I am a current tenant of Cityred and been having issues with the staff and owner some time.
Am I a genuine tenant and will verify these this to Google. I know these guys get reviews removed to Stop there bad service being spread to others.
They attended my property without my permission and started looking through my personal things.
The owner also came with staff.
**He is a Doctor and was extremely aggressive and intimidating. He wouldn’t me speak.**
The office said sorry, I went to
*citizens advice. They told me to report this to the *Property Ombudsman. I have now done this.
Avoid city red you can is my advice to all.

I rented a two bed with my friend at the start of July Last year. Walking into the office staff were nice and assured us if there were any issues we just needed to contact them or Byron. We were told a little bit of decorating needed to be done nothing major. When we arrived at the property 21 things were broken or damaged the bedrooms were dark and gloomy with wall paper hanging off and the walls poorly painted. The flooring downstairs was horrendous every time you walked you’d slip it was peeling up it just looked awful and was a death trap. We were told this will be done within a month or so it wasn’t done until after Christmas the only positive thing I have to say is that Chris the Handy man is hard working and was lovely each time he entered the property. Everything was old in this property and falling to bits from the washer to the dishwasher which broke half way through the year it started smoking out of no where I made Byron aware of this but his favourite Sentence was I’ll send someone out! Not to mention we had a leak that was never fixed properly, rubbish left on the back garden after a removal of a shed, broken beds, broken cupboards,broken shower head. Do not be fooled by the pictures online If you want over priced and no customer service and to live in Hell Go with city red if not save yourself the ignored emails and more.

I'd give them no stars if I could. The property was dirty when we moved in, even though there was a delay in us getting the keys so that the place could be cleaned...
Even after calling multiple times the flat was not cleaned and we had to do it ourselves.
When we left the property it was most definitely cleaner than how we found it but they still deducted money from our deposit. The staff are so rude, especially Byron. Their were viewings at our flat at least four times a week after November. I refused entry to one room in the flat once and was told if I did so again I would be fined. Their communication is terrible, sometimes they would tell us their was a viewing so we would make sure we weren't doing anything at this time and then no one would turn up wasting an hour of our time - this was such a common occurrence. Don't be fooled, they'll get you signed up then the problems will start

By far the worst agency we ever rented from. The don't do any kind of maintenance at all. We asked them to fix an issue with hot water, we emailed them repeatedly about the issue and they ignored it. We called their emergency number and they told us they cannot come to the house because the office is closed on Saturday and they cannot be pick up the keys. They lied in the beginning of the tenancy they are going to clean the house. the cleaning become light cleaning and ended up no cleaning at all! We had to take a few days to clean everything properly. We even cleaned the walls! they were literally black from dirtiness. We had to do all the garden maintenance when the next house agency is frequently coming to trim the grass and maintain the fences etc. Our door is rusty and the wooden cover of the main entrance has rotten and fall. They used to close any tickets we opened in their maintenance system and now after complaining they are just leaving them open forever! Don't believe whatever they say. They are a headache! Avoid them at all cost!

Charged me for items we reported but they didn't fix, Ignored a bug infestation and mouldy walls, withheld deposit despite us agreeing to paying £250 towards the damages they didn't repair, left us without a working boiler for multiple months through winter and signed us up to Huddl which is an extortionate company that overcharges students for energy bills.
We had to go through a financial ombudsman and erroneous transfer charter just to undo the financial damage that Cityred caused us and then when we left they had the audacity to charge us more.
DO NOT USE THESE.

On the other hand, £300 a month all bills, council tax and internet included for someone who is no longer a student is an excellent price and I have one really nice flatmate. If you are not in the house often and just want somewhere to sleep more than anything, I would recommend CityRed.
The staff I have met in the office have all been nice but I am not sure how much they play a part in repairs etc.

Cityred are an appalling letting agent that never seem to do any work.
Upon arrival to my new flat, I walked in to find a builder's belongings everywhere, and several pieces of work unfinished, despite Cityred promising all of this work would be completed before moving in. It took several weeks of manoeuvring around the builder's ladders and (what seemed like) his wordly belongings, and calling up Cityred every night, for me to take matters into my own hands. Someone in my building actually helped finish the repairs and works that needed to be done in his own time, as I realised Cityred were never going to do anything.
Throughout my tenancy, cars in the car park of the property were often broken into, after which Cityred did nothing to secure the property. A gap in the fence large enough for a car and a broken front gate remained broken throughout the entirety of my tenancy, despite many emails requesting someone to come and fix them. I'm just glad nothing broke in my flat, as I'm sure it would not have been fixed throughout the tenancy.
The end of the tenancy was no different, with me chasing and chasing to hear back about my deposit. It's been 20 days since I moved out and I'm still yet to hear anything, despite someone in the office saying I would hear back within 10 days of handing in the keys.
Don't ever rent with Cityred. They are a terrible company. If you feel like you are forced to rent with them, don't ever listen to anything they say as they will not complete work they say they will and will not follow deadlines they have set out.

Absolutely shocking. Not only was the property horrendous when we moved in but now they're holding onto our deposits that we are entitled to! They even tried to charge us �300 for a deep clean that they didn't even perform, which I thought was ridiculous anyway because when we moved into the property there was a 6ft hole in the ceiling and the shower & fridge didn't work... Definitely would not recommend CityRed, they try and palm your problems off for as long as they can. Thought Bilal was very helpful he tried to get everything sorted promptly. It's unfortunate the rest of the staff aren't like him. Our tenancy got moved over to another letting agents and the new property manager was brilliant with us and listened to all of our queries, something CityRed had never done. The deposit scheme is an absolute shambles, it clearly states that they are only allowed to hold your deposits 10 calendar days after you request it back, it has been 3 weeks now and I still haven't received my deposit because the account manager is on leave I find it hard to believe that there is only one person with the authority to give students their deposits back and they have somehow taken leave at the busiest time of year.

I cannot stress how important it is for nobody to ever rent from this company ever again. The staff are a collection of the most useless, half-witted group of compulsive liars I have ever come across in my entire life. When we moved in, our flat was vile, sticky and mouldy to name but a few. It was apparently deemed to be 'clean' by the cleaners who had supposedly been in to clean and had sent photos to cityred - The cleaners had never even been to the flat and were disgusted at the conditions when they were eventually called out - the first of many lies to come. We couldn't take our shoes off for the first week of living there and this was approximately FIFTEEN DAYS after our tenancy had begun. More recently, they have known about the faulty boiler and it's requirement for either a new part or a new boiler entirely for over SIX WEEKS now and, once again, have done nothing. If any member of staff ever says they will call you back regarding an issue, they won't. Don't even begin to think they will - Because they just won't. A mandatory £150 letting fee is paid from each tenant. For this cost, Cityred boast a disgraceful customer service and an unimaginable half-arsed attitude to anything which isn't related to tenants paying them money. They have developed a reputation which truly does proceed them.
Once again, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I have been a landlord with Cityred for 4 years now. I must say that the service has been excellent. Cityred have no problems in letting each of my properties, every single year.
It has not been all plain sailing, but when problems have arisen they have listened and corrected matters promptly. This includes improvements following feed-back from my tenants to Cityred. Rent payments to me, along with statements, are always on time too.
I would definitely recommend this agent. In fact a few of my friends and family have already joined Cityred as both landlords and some as tenants.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
