We offered on a property being marketed by Mansell Mctaggart Burgess Hill. The whole process from offer to exchange was very tiresome as the vendor did not complete paperwork and cancelled three appointments to sign their contract. Jamie Lanstbury at Mansell Mctaggart did nothing to rectify the situation and after the vendors made it clear they were not going to sign we had to pull out of our purchase to enable the chain below to exchange. On making this incredily difficult decision and notifying Jamie, he blamed us and hung up. We wrote an e-mail to explain that we were devastated that we were left no choice, but to pull out, bearing in mind we lost over £1,000 in the process. Jamie's response was 'I will not reply to anything else you have to say'. Two weeks later we saw a property they were marketing, we called to arrange a viewing and they refused based on the fact we pulled out of a sale. We went into the office to try and draw a line under the situation and were told 'nobody in this office will deal with you'. After reminding them for the 3rd time that it was not our fault, but in fact THEIR clients fault, they still refused. We sent two e-mails to the senior directors Justin Wallden and Gordon Andrews to find out why we were being treated in this way and have still had no response. Not only have we been spoken to in a completely unproffessional manner, but they have also lost their client the opportunity of a cash, chain free sale & did not even bother to let the vendor know we were interested, Never in 30 years have we been spoken to so badly. Jul 23, 2012I would like to warn readers that the people behind this post aren't all they may purport to be ! I was actually warned off getting involved with cjb but concluded how could any people possibly be that much to be avoided - after all - they simply wanted to buy my house ! They start negotiations to purchase a property and then leave a trail of disaster in their wake - causing devastation to a number of people's lives in the process. Their most last minute decision to date, being to pull out of a purchase on the day of exchange (my sympathies go out to those involved on that occasion) Thankfully, we hadn't got that far ourselves, but our deal was moving along nicely (all in the hands of solicitors) prior to receiving the terrible news that they were pulling out (again)! Needless to say, they have not done the honourable thing and offered to cover our expenditure thus far. Oh to have the same property buying and selling process as they do in Scotland and other parts of Europe. BEWARE of cjb and if you do have dealings with them - good luck.
