If anyone is looking for an estate agent in the Stevenage area I would strongly recommend Country Properties who carried out the sale of my property in the old town. Prospective buyers were plentiful from the outset and every aspect of the sale was carried out in an efficient, professional and friendly manner. My questions were dealt with in a timely and comprehensive way and any problems of which there a couple were resolved to the satisfaction of myself and I believe the buyer. Overall my experience of selling my house was as satisfactory as I could have wished for.

What agent could do to change your mind?
the fees were comparable to all local agents and although everyone would like to pay lower agents fees we feel they worked hard for every penny and don't begrudge them any of it. if we had sold through a "sell yourself" website I think the chain would have fallen through as there needed to be a lot of nurturing of the people lower down the chain and our agents too the time to do this.

brilliant agents who did everything they said they would do from accompanied viewings, kept in contact with viewing appointments and feedback, regularly chased the other parties in the chain and their solicitors from acceptance of offer right up to completion. even when things got very tense with problems lower down in the chain they were supportive and kept chasing and negotiating to make sure the chain did not fall through. kind polite people who we felt were acting in our best interest at all times. liked them so much decided to sell another property through them after we completed on the first one!

Comments on Agent Fees
For the amount of work eventually involved, exacerbated by fee enhancing solicitors, the fee we paid was extremely good value for money!

As we were moving overseas and time was of the essence , we asked Sue Wilson to advise a price which would be likely to sell within 3 months. This she did after discussing the reasoning with us. Potential buyers were very carefully screened before being allowed to view our property and were generally accompanied by Sue herself.
After only 2 months a buyer was found and Sue was toldt there was no chain involved, as a result of which we accepted a much reduced offer as no chain meant us having a great deal more flexibility and the ability to act quickly the moment our oversea visas were granted. Unbelievably, and to Sue and her team's utter amazement, it was discovered they had been blatantly lied to by an agent further down "the chain!" By this time it was too late to do anything about it - Sue was magnificent in "calming me down" and the sale proceeded - only to be constantly delayed by what I have since termed as " feet dragging, fee enhancing, legal parasites" who started asking almost ridiculous questions which really should have been dealt with weeks before!
By now Caroline was on the case. Now this young lady would NOT give up, would take NO NONSENSE from anyone, be it agent, lawyer or whoever! Caroline pushed, shoved and went the "extra mile" more times than we can remember! We can honestly state if it hadn't been for Caroline's doggedness we would not have achieved the sale when we did. We had already suffered delayed flights with associated additional costs because we had acted in the earlier belief that no chain was involved!
The whole journey, as so many others seem to agree, has been a total nightmare, caused entirely by other so called " professional bodies" who proved to be anything but that! We really don't know where we would have been if it hadn't been for Caroline's stalwart efforts on our behalf. We have an awful lot to thank her and Sue for. No matter what problem or excuse raised its head - it was dealt with. Absolutely no grass grew under either of these ladie's feet!!
There are a lot of words in this review, but few in comparison to the efforts made by Sue and Caroline to get us moved. Well done and thank you both so very much.
Terry and Debbie.

When our long chain threw up a last minute complication, Sue in particular came into her own. Due to poor soliciting from various other parts, we were stuck with a very difficult and emotional situation and decision to make. Sue was amazing in keeping us calm, explaining the options and what would/could realistically happen with each one, until she helped us come to the best decision which kept the chain alive. Both Sue and Caroline in particular were great with communicating both to and for us, particularly through that difficult period. Thankfully we're now very happily settled in our new home, something which we doubted may happen at all at one point! The whole team there are great and friendly, and by far the best estate agents we've ever come across so far.

In the summer of 2012 we decided, now that we were both fully retired,to relocate to Spain sometime during 2013. We selected a New Property, during an Inspection visit in November, put in an offer, which was accepted, following a little bit of negotiating by the English speaking Estate Agent who was marketing the properties.A small development in the fishing village of Santiago de la Ribera on the Costa Blanca, was the location for the build, and it would be completed in October 2013,by a local builder, who has been building houses since 1973.
At this time we were in no hurry to move over due to the timescale, but sought the advice of Country Properties in Stevenage as to when we ought to go to the market. Initially we thought Spring 2013 would be a good time. Country Properties senior Sales Negotiator Dan Bull came to value the property and was very professional in his advice, and did agree with our thoughts on the timescale for our move. It was early December, and obviously with potential purchasers thinking only of Christmas, the market was a bit flat to say the least. Dan gave us his valuation, and would welcome the opportunity to Market the property early in 2013. We thought about the situation for a few days, and came to the decision,WHY WAIT! We visited Dan again, and informed him of a potential change of plan. Why not test the market now,a week before Christmas? We probably would not sell it,but would hopefully get viewings in the new year. Within 24 hours Dan had taken outside an interior shots, printed a detailed description of our property and it was Emailed out to potential buyers,it was even featured as Property of The Week in the office window. We were delighted with his dedication. We did stress to Dan at this stage that any potential purchasers must be told of our circumstances,in that as we would be driving to Spain, there was no way we would be prepared to travel during the French winter, and that after Easter would be the earliest time we would move. Dan followed our instructions to the letter!view viewing!
Within 10 days we had our first viewing! A local couple, with two children, who had been looking for a larger house for 2 years, and this was their first viewing on any property in that time! They loved the house, and were very complementary. They went away to think about it,and we thought that's it, too close to Christmas! The next day,Dan received an offer from this family, that we accepted! They were even prepared to wait until April to complete the purchase! Dan also obtained their Solicitors details as well! A further appointment was fixed for the 22nd December for them to take measurements for curtains ,which proved difficult as the Christmas decorations were up!
We had to find a rental property close to our new house,to oversee the construction, and make changes where necessary. We got lucky, and found a three bedroom rental, with pool
The sale progressed well, and on April 8th we started our 1500 mile drive to Spain, that took 3 Days, our 4x4 was packed with all but the Kitchen sink, and complete with our two dogs.
Moving is an emotional experience, especially as we are not young anymore, but I have to say we enjoyed it every step of the way, even the drive! Country Properties, and in particular DAN BULL were very professional in every way. Keeping us informed every day on all developments, even when there was none! We missed Dan's daily call when it was his day off! When we dropped the keys off on the 8th April, the staff at Country Properties had signed a Bon Voyage card. Little things like that sent us off with a smile on our faces!
So here we are in Spain and its October 2013,and 80 degrees, sorry about than Dan,but had to get it in! Our new house was even ready 4 weeks early
When we come back to the U.K to visit family and friends next year,Country Properties will be on the list of our visits. We cannot praise Dan and his staff enough for the dedication they showed to us and, made the move so much easier for us.

First time buyer so thought we would find the whole process a little daunting, but in all honesty it went so well we still can't believe we own our own property! From the moment we met Dan Bull at the property, he was knowledgable about the house, the surroundings, current market values of properties nearby and local shops etc. It turns out the first property we looked at was the one we purchased, Dan could see we were keen but was very impartial and told us to view a few more properties and not to rush into the first house viewed. We viewed some more with Dan but had our hearts set on the first house, we called up the office, put in an offer and within the hour Dan had sorted it that the property was sold subject to contract. After this we had no idea of the process and what sort of timeframe we were looking at, but Dan kept us in the loop all the way through the process and for this I cannot thank him enough. Here we are now two weeks in our new house and it still hasn't sunk in! Thank you so much Country Properties and especially Dan Bull, you made it all so easy for us.
