I had an awful experience with Foxtons. I rented a property with them for nearly 5 years, after being informed that I needed to pay £600 per month by my landlord or else move out. I agreed to move out and the process of the return of my deposit was terrible. I was presented with deductions of nearly £450, which I didn't agree with. I presented my evidence on MY FOXTONS but their system would not process when I disagreed with the deductions. However, to my surprise their system miraculously processed when I agreed to a deduction for extra day rent. I have emailed, called but nobody came back to me. Finally, when I threatened to make a formal complain, someone replied to me requesting I request my deposit via MY DEPOSITS. They refused to process the refund of the part of my deposit, that wasn't in dispute and I had to provide all the evidence to initiate a dispute. Worse, 2 months down the line I still haven't received a penny. Avoid this company ripping off tenants!

After waiting several months for the leaking gutter to be fixed and numerous sleepless nights from the noise caused by the leak when hitting the plastic canopy of the neighbouring property, Isaiah Samuel came to the rescue, he recently took over management of my rented property with Foxtons and managed to pursued the neighbouring management company to replace the gutter within a few weeks, after months of them ignoring the problem. Thank you Isaiah for dealing with this issue after it was left hanging for an extraordinarily long time and getting the job done. P.S. The five stars are for Isaiah's performance! Awful customer care driven by greed. All they care about is getting the next commission, and they’ll apparently stop at nothing to squeeze all they can out of landlords and tenants. Juliana and Viral have been particularly greedy in my experience, but from speaking to other landlords the greed culture runs through others in the company too. I have used them for many years for many rentals but their culture and the way they choose to do business has changed. In future I’ll use any agent but Foxtons.

These people are criminals – plain and simple. After renting in London for 15 years, I had the misfortune of dealing with Foxtons – an experience which turned out to be the worst renting experience of my life.
My main gripe has to be the incompetence and unpleasantness of those working within their property management 'service' which was soul-destroying to deal with. One incident epitomises the company; my washing machine broke and I reported the issue to the property management 'service' expecting that someone would be sent out to repair the machine. After repeated failures of plumbers to turn up and, after repeated calls to Foxtons, eventually someone turned up (who failed to repair the machine). It would take two further visits by engineers for the machine to be repaired and operational. In total it took three weeks for the broken machine to be repaired and therefore I needed find an alternative way of laundering my clothes (and those of my partner). Foxtons property management had given me assurances that I could send my clothes out to be laundered and that they would remunerate me for the bills incurred. Living in a semi-rural area in Surrey (where the flat was) and without a car, I had little choice but to send my clothes out to be cleaned, costing £185 over three weeks. Intuitive readers will see where this is going – they reneged on their promise. First they cited the expense of the laundry costs; I explained that I had no car, and that there was no launderette within walking distance and therefore had no choice but to use a collection-based laundry service which I concede was not cheap. They then started to intimate (and then state) that they wouldn't repay me the money as it was my fault that the washing machine was broken and that I could have simply reset the machine to have solved the problem. This was completely erroneous. The first plumber and myself had attempted numerous factory resets on the machine, but in the end the only thing that got it working was an appliance engineer opening the machine up and running an electrical diagnostic using complex hardware. Foxtons at this stage owe me £185 which they refuse to pay.
Fast forward a few months to May of 2022 and my partner and I have decided to move out (in part due to the incompetence and perniciousness of the property management team) and inform Foxtons of that fact. They are delighted; rather than having to wait until October (the dead season for property marketing) they can ride the wave of the summer letting season and not only that – but rents are skyrocketing in London and the surrounding areas as demand (for rental properties) greatly outstrips supply. I speak to the head of lettings at the branch and he assures me that I will only be on the hook (financially) for the time difference between moving out and the new tenants moving in. After all, the property will be quickly let – and for a greater sum than it is currently being let for – a win-win for all parties (or so I thought). Again, the shysters stiffed me and despite the fact that I only should have paid ten days rent in punitive charges, they end up screwing me out of almost a month's rent (citing marketing charges), despite the gentleman's agreement I had with the lettings team. Foxtons now owe me £953.
In an era where the London renter is facing more adversity than ever before, predatory organisations like Foxtons should be called out for their transgressions and I urge anyone reading this to not use them for letting a flat, or indeed renting one.

AVOID FOXTONS LIKE THE PLAGUE!! For wider context; I agreed with Foxtons on first visitation we would need 48 hrs notice and my approximate accessible times for viewings. Despite disability accessibly being a legal requirement to accommodate as part of the Equality Act 2010, and previously agreeing multiples times, including in writing, that we would not be bombarded and harassed with calls to book viewings outside agreed times; Foxtons agents have insisted on, harassing and bombarding me, with last minuet calls, text messages and even on my personal whatsapp; that I have not consented to be contacted on! This has been going on for several weeks now, despite multiples requests and complaints, and empty promises It wouldn't happen again. Today this happened again. An agent (Adelle) messaged me after agreeing not to over two times now with a last minute viewing, less than 24hrs notice!!. She sent a stream of messages to my personal whatsapp repeatedly requesting a viewing, despite me literally writing I am getting sick of this, It is not what was agreed or was re-promised, and this goes against the Equality Act which they are legally obliged to follow. I have it in writing from Adelle, a sudden back track of the empty re-promises; 'when we get a last minute call,(for a viewing) we will always call'. Despite also having in writing that Adelle had agreed not to do this anymore. Agreed 48hrs notice, then bombards with messages requesting almost immediate access in under 24hr notice, outside agreed times. Foxtons are a joke. At one point Adelle booked a viewing on a Saturday of which I changed my whole weekend to accommodate only for nobody to turn up, not even a courtesy call or apology. (Adelle tried to pass this off as it not being confirmed, however this was booked like every other viewing, and was in fact booked on the system). In another instance I showed somebody around myself as the agent turned up late. He didn't even bother to knock or apologise directly (only via text) as he met the viewers outside, after they had finished and left. Foxtons... please re-train your staff in courtesy and human sense; this house does not have wheels or legs, it isn't going to run away. This is not a quick sale of an empty home. Nobody buys on a first viewing. Legally you are required by the Equality Act 2010 to accommodate my accessibility needs as a protected characteristic. ofc which you will now be familiar with as you have been served with a direct discrimination legal notice. The worst part of it is Foxtons don't own their mistakes, or apologise, they'll agree, promise, then back track and simply try to pass it off as standard company policy (illegal), or try to blame everyone else; or blame me; that I must be mistaken, or insisting they are being polite, while they ignore my disability rights and the Equality Act 2010, harass and bombard me. You can't politely ignore disability accessibility Foxtons!!! Honestly, their service is much like that sit-com 'Stath lets flats' on Channel 4. Foxtons Woolwich could easily be written into the script in the middle of 'Smethwick's' & 'Michael & Eagle' Comfortably.
If you want a good reputable and respectful House sales agent to sell your property, go to Felicity J Lord of Blackheath, who provided exemplary customer service, assured and personal understanding and respect of disability and all round human kindness, in the initial viewing, I wish we signed up with Felicity J Lord, they seem to have superior customer service and actually legal standards of sales. Risk your property with Foxtons at your peril and distress!! Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!
I can also assure you, Foxtons are NOT LGBT Friendly!! It's performative lip service and in sales speak only. Remove my flag from your service, you don't deserve it. No LGBTQIA+ person has any respect for disability discrimination, being harassed or bombarded.

As a landlord my experience with this branch has been very poor. The maintenance team are especially unskilled and unresponsive. Unfortunately I was allocated Crystal White as my 'Property Manager' and she has been absolutely useless. My property is supposed to be fully managed by this agency and I'm having to do most of their work for them. Crystal even said to me that due to COVID-19 they cannot provide a full service, however they still expect me to pay the full fees! After complaining, I got a call from Eleanor Reeve who if Crystal's manager. Eleanor is just as useless and failed to resolve any of the issues. In 6 months I haven't seen any evidence of the staff being skilled or knowledgeable of the real estate industry and their lack of professionalism makes everything hard work and stressful.

As we are leaving our rental,Foxtons is in charge of finding a new tenant. It is very difficult to work with this agency. I contacted Foxtons to market my property on let only basis. They found me a long term tenant who has been in the property for nearly two years. The fees are absolutely ridiculous - they charge you 9% of your monthly rent for altering a bit of paper! Recently I had to contact the renewals team as the the commission paid to me was incorrect. I emailed my renewals team contact and he failed to respond to me a week later. I telephoned him to chase him on a reply. He transferred me to his colleague in Letting support. She was rude and did not listen to my concerns that the rent has been unpaid by the tenant. All she kept saying that we are not going to chase tenants for a small amounts. I said would you like to be shortchanged and she replied no. I said that Foxtons should not of taken their commission until the matter was resolved.

Foxtons Tenancy Department is without a doubt the worst run and most frustrating group of people I have ever had the misfortune to have to deal with. I cannot fathom how it can take them a month to respond to an e-mail. That was the one that they did respond to, the others went unanswered. Calling them is futile. Unpleasant attitudes and basically just reading lease terms to you with no ability to process anything that does not fit into their computers response ! I only wanted to suggest that if I invoked the break clause and gave some early warning of such that they could perhaps market early. I gained no response to this and when I next called they told me I had given notice, which I hadn't, and as such was liable to pay. Many arguments later and I just had to swallow the situation and move out early. Now, getting any response on the deposit return is impossible. Even the landlady of the property has tried and they couldn't even be bothered to answer her ! I had to send her the check in and out inventory as Foxtons didn't respond to her requests. The sales negotiator I has was brilliant. Ieva is one of a kind and very good at her job. However, as soon as you sign up it just becomes a nightmanre. My advice: Avoid Foxtons entirely either as a landlord or a tenant !

Shannagh Docherty booked a viewing for us on a Wednesday afternoon. While waiting for the agent to arrive one of the tenants was getting out of the property and asked why we were waiting outside their house. We said that we were going to view the property with Foxtons, to which the tenant said "Good luck with that!" If you are told that the disrepairs in the house are our fault, be advised that we are complaining about them since we moved in years ago. We were obviously startled by this however felt we shouldn't get involved into their problems and should we wish to rent the place we would then request that refurbishment/repairs are done prior to us moving in. When we visited inside the house we noticed that it was not just "tired" as the agent liked to say, it was clearly neglected throughout, however the main problems were the two bathrooms that were so mouldy that certain parts of the walls, floors, panels etc were already rotten.
However, due to necessity we felt that, if the repairs/refurbishment were done prior to us moving in we'd take the house. So on that basis on the same day we made an offer to rent the house and requested pay the holding deposit, and to be sent paperwork necessary for us to start the process and reserve the house. Our moving date would be in two months, thus giving enough time for the landlord to sort out the list of repairs and modifications we requested. The next day, foxtons replied that (and without any reasonable explanation) we were only able to hold the property if we paid in full 6 weeks deposit + 1 whole month rent, which is not a standard in agencies. Despite this unreasonable request, given we hadn't even had our references checked etc, we paid 6K in advances and filled up all paperwork. Two days after the viewing we had fulfilled all requirements ordered by foxtons and were given the contract to sign, which we signed and sent back. As soon as we signed the contract I proceeded to start planning the house move while Foxtons proceeded to be go quiet and we didn't hear from them, nor received back from them the contract signed back, for a few days.
Given the huge pressure Foxtons had put upon us to pay the full amount of money and sign the paperwork/contract we than insisted almost a week later, that they tell us why we hadn't been given the contract signed yet. Foxtons wordsmiths went on to defend the landlord, saying that 'because he's a doctor he hasn't had any time to sign the contract back yet because he was on shift all the time since we signed he contract. This excuse lasted a few more days when we finally told them that it was clear that if the landlord couldn't take 5 minutes to sign a contract even after receiving thousands of pounds in advance for a property that was currently in breach of health and safety regulations, he was clearly the problem as to why the property was so neglected in the first place, and we than gave foxtons a deadline to send us the contract back (as this was impairing our ability to move forward with our lives) to which they did not fulfil.
After almost 10 days hearing a string of lies from foxtons we finally pressured them to tell us what was going on, to which they than, after telling us all the time since viewing, that the landlord was a reliable landlord with many other properties in the market and that we should take the delay in signing as a 'exception' we received a call from **Foxtons stating that the landlord was dodging them and us and not being honest with anyone, than later on she proceeded to say that the landlord hadn't signed the contract because he was found to be trying to sell the house at the same time that he was putting it up for rent and decided not to rent anymore. We had to than cancel our plans of moving home, which caused enormous upheaval in our lives and then wait ages to have our money refunded back - in comparison to us paying it literally overnight - just because these corrupt, unprofessional, negligent and greedy landlords are nothing but selfish and inhumane beings.
After all the distress caused in our family due to their *** work, the landlord could not sell the house and has put it up in the market at a higher price. We still cannot comprehend how can a person be so money hungry and selfish that he's unable to communicate. If he wanted more in rent he should have asked us to pay more to which we would have considered whilst unaware how neglectful he is. Now, I just hope that this review saves the hassle of potential victims..
