Underwhelmed by the poor service we received. Lack of experience, dishonesty and poor at correspondence. When you give the 'mandatory' 28 days notice to quit the contract the dishonesty claim they will remain fully committed to you the duration of the notice, we heard nothing at all from the first day! This is the Leominster branch so not sure this is reflective practice of Chancellors in general? Very disappointing and could not recommend.

I wish I could give a zero review but that's not an option. Chancellors when we gave our property to sell promised us quick deal but as time went their sales progression agent Ruby Irving gave us excuses and lies giving different reasons such third party survey and issues with remortgage only after I chased them multiple times. No communication was ever initiated by her during the time, it was only after I called multiple times. Eventually I realised that both chancellors and buyer were working together to provide me misleading information and only after I put my foot down to give me a final answer about the purchase they agreed their mistake and told me that the buyer had withdrawn. So my advice would be to stay away from them

Never rent or buy with Chancellors! Houses have hidden faults; what you get is not what you signed up . We’ve been tricked to commit money before we could see the final state of the house – which was terrible, nowhere near ready takeover. Chancellors are ignoring our requests. And all this after a long and troublesome procedure, with appalling (mis)communication between the numerous incompetent people and external companies employed by them. Wish we hadn’t even approached them. We were dealing with Chancellors East Oxford office (not in the dropdown menu)

ROGUE TRADERS ILLEGAL SELLING MISLEADING EXPLOITING buyers. 3rd purchase via chancellors and 2nd sale. Cannot fault them at all- we had viewings booked ahead of marketing our house- they got us heaps of viewings- lots of offers and we sold our property within a week (to the first person that viewed!). Called us after every single viewing with feedback. Great app to track feedback and offers too which is helpful. Nick, Dan (and Richard) were absolutely fantastic. They also recommend a conveyancer who was phenomenal. Our house went on the market mid April and 3 months later we are done and dusted and in our lovely new home. Nick even went above and beyond post sale to make sure things ran smoothly for us every step of the way. We cannot rate them highly enough! Thank you!

The initial contact with Chancellors was via Kayleigh who was great.
Shortly after signing our agreement however, we started getting passed around the houses, making it impossible to keep track of email chains or speak to anyone with decent knowledge of our account.
The accounts team is extremely poor. Despite making formal complaints the communication remains terrible. They take money from our tenant's rent without explaining why, or how the amount is broken down. If you fight hard enough they will eventually pay you back but it takes real determination. Amounts are often withdrawn "in error" for services they haven't actually provided.
The first tenant they placed with us absolutely wrecked the place (inc. leaving dog faeces in carpeted rooms), and had 'his mate' staying for the majority of the contract instead of him. We had to be extremely well organised as despite paying for a fully managed service they didn't do the end of tenancy check on the date they said they would. Thank goodness we had done our own detailed report with photographs.
The Property Management Team send in expensive contractors with essentially no warning. Thankfully we are quick enough to specify we do not provide permission for works to go ahead until we've had a chance to review the relevant documents. In every instance, contractors have quoted for works that don't actually need doing, often bumping them above the £1k amount which (according to Chancellors) triggers an extra fee for Chancellors.
We will be leaving them as soon as we are able to.

Chancellors have a lot of good reviews on here for buying and selling properties, which allows them to hide the fact that their property management division (Thameside) are awful. I had the misfortune of appointing them to manage my property. Instead of getting the full managed service that I paid for, I ended up spending my time constantly correcting their errors and chasing them up for resolutions and updates. Issues with my property went unresolved for months because they failed to report them to me or failed to follow up with the tenants. They forgot to remit rent to me and would then remit incorrect amounts. After I handed in my 3 months' notice to them, they lost interest completely and stopped corresponding with me, but still continued to take their commission despite not actively managing the property. Their service was nothing short of negligent and I couldn't possibly recommend them to anyone. In fact, I would actively advise anyone to avoid ever getting involved with them.

<p>Landlords beware! </p><p> In 2021, Chancellors deceptively advertised property as being 'no deposit' and tried to trick me into signing up for a tenancy deposit scheme. They prefilled in the form, and only after I had paid a holding deposit did I discover this was a complicated insurance scheme. They would have charged the landlord £50 a month for something I as tenant had no need for and had never asked for. The ASA agreed the advertising was misleading. </p><p> Contractors selected by Chancellors installed a replacement boiler using non-gas safe fitters which broke the law, and I believe Chancellors did not inform the landlord. I told Chancellors the very same day I had concerns. The boiler was condemned after inspection by Gas-safe and the manufacturer. The HSE confirmed to me, in writing, that the contractor had broken the law. I asked Chancellors for months on end if they had told the landlord. They refused to answer and I even tried to get the ombudsman to force them to tell him. In the end, I wrote the landlord a letter. He said he had been completely unaware there had been a problem. He understandably ended up using his own contractors for several repairs rather than continuing to entrust work to Chancellors. </p><p> Finally, I checked-out of the property today with my landlord understandably switching letting agent and was only told at 2117 last night by text message the checkout would be at 11am the next day. </p><p> Landlords, I would strongly suggest you do not trust your property to these people and find a reputable local agent who will act in your interests. </p><p> Tenants - it's hard out there at the moment, but if you must rent from Chancellors it's probably a good idea to make sure you've got the Landlord's details.</p>

The worst agent we have used. After purchasing their silver service we heard nothing whatsoever from them after introduction. Our tenant left after 13 months without the contract being extended so we had to collect rent for the final month, arrange checkout, etc. We then received a bill for the ... Read Full Review

The worst agent we have used. After purchasing their silver service we heard nothing whatsoever from them after introduction. Our tenant left after 13 months without the contract being extended so we had to collect rent for the final month, arrange checkout, etc. We then received a bill for the 13th month. I asked what service they were billing for and they could not articulate an answer but referred it to a debt collection service. They also sold us a very expensive Deposit Replacement Scheme for 650gbp. When I submitted the required paperwork and attempted to claim they kept stalling with utterly nonsensical answers, eventually telling me the deadline for a claim had passed. We will be referring the matter to the FOS. Chancellors have since been blacklisted on all of our properties and I would urge caution on behalf of landlords and investors. Please feel free to contact me if you have experienced similar in respect of misselling as if it is commonplace there are grounds for a class action.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
