We were selling our 2 bed flat with Gibbs Gillespie (Harrow). While they were doing viewings on our property, most of the staff had no knowledge of the spec of our property when prospective buyers were asking questions they would never know the answers. In addition to this, most of the time they were always late for viewings (up to an hour late) and would never call ahead to inform us or the viewers, so I would had to show the prospective buyers around the property. We were told prior to signing our contract, if offers came in that they would run all checks to ensure they were genuine offers. We accepted an offer which eventually fell through. Because there was a delay on the buyers side, Gibbs told us they would ask the buyer to put a non-refundable holding deposit of £2000 down so that if they did pull out that we would receive the £2000 to cover the cost. They confirmed over the phone that the buyer had put the deposit down so we went ahead and arranged a mortgage for another property we were buying. Eventually after our property was off the market for weeks the sale fell through on the buyers behalf and when we asked for the deposit it had been refunded to the buyer so we were out of pocket after arranging a mortgage and lost the other property that we were buying. Very unprofessional. Because of the length of time the property was on the market without sale we decided to take it off the market we were told over the phone first by a junior member of staff that this was no problem it will be taken down immediately (we hadn't even given our name, who we were, so I thought anyone off the street could have rang up to take it off the market). Eventually a senior member of staff told us we can't take it down off the market without given written notice 2 weeks in advance and persuaded us to leave it up for another few weeks. One Saturday morning, we had a guest stay over at our property and the estate agent let themselves in with a prospective buyer and disturbed our guest in bed (half dressed). They had left a message the evening before on my partners voicemail to give them a ring back to confirm a viewing, my partner hadn't got the message until after the viewing. They never attempted to contact me when they couldn't get hold of my partner so we had no idea there was viewings that day. This was a trespass of a private property and needless to say we terminated our contract with immediate effect. When I rang the office the guy i was talking to didn't even apologise for what had happened. They are extremely unprofessional and I would not recommend them to anyone going on the service we received.
