Moved out 5 weeks ago after caring for the property as if my own and receiving glowing 3 monthly inspection reports on the state of the property. Very pleased with service during tenancy but after chasing 3 weeks after moving out no action had been taken by the agency whatsoever to progress release of deposit. Charges were recommended to landlord by Romans for deposit retention on checkout for 4 minor points, these are several hundreds of pounds which are disproportionate and I have challenged. No response to phone calls or emails for the last two and a half weeks and currently unable to recover the deposit. Very disappointed and expecting this will turn in to an official complaint to Romans and perhaps go to the Ombudsman taking months to resolve. I would not rent through Romans again.
Comments on Agent Fees
My only issue is with retention of deposit at end of tenancy. This is very much stacked against the tenant whose only redress seems to be through a lengthy ombudsman process.

In the event that you are looking for an agent that speaks down to you, treats you like just another number and is just overall rude, then wow these are a find.
Maybe you fancy spending weeks trying to negotiate an extension to your tenancy agreement only to be ignored after each and every email. Expect a 3 monthly review of your tenancy� Expect again, it's not happening.
Have too much time on your hands? Fear not, Romans are on hand to ensure your days are spent on the phone chasing minor details that a strategically shaved monkey could get right. Then just as you are strutting round your living room like Rex Harrison in My fair lady uttering âby George I think she's got itâ you find out they have been overcharging you against market rates and once again Romans smash new levels of morality that you previously thought unobtainable.
From overpriced fees, rude and inept staff to completely unnecessary issues getting your deposit back Romans excel in every area of incompetency and breath-taking idiocy.
A faultlessly inept and disappointing experience comes free with every let. Everything else is chargeable.

Daniel was aware of my unfortunate circumstances and made the whole buying process extremely easy for me. The property will be rented and Daniel has assured me that he will hand it all over to the lettings dept and i will have no dealings with it. Daniel has kept me updated and found out information for me. He even met me at 7pm on a Friday eve to show me a property! Very professional and only wish there were more people like Daniel in your establishment

I have been renting a property through Romans Lettings in Wokingham for just over a year now. They have been brilliant from the very beginning, I originally spoke to Seirian who showed me around the property and sorted out the contract for me, she was always very polite and helpful and whenever I had any questions (which I had a few) she found the answers for me immediately.
Once we had moved into the property our contact was Annette Dowling, I have had a few proplems/queries since moving in, like problems with the toilet and washing machine, and a change of tenant. Annette was always friendly and efficient. A problem with the toilet was fixed on the same day I called to advise of the issue which was great, I was working all day so it was fixed by the time I got home!
Having previously received some less than satisfactory service from other Romans branches I would highly reccommend Romans in Wokingham to friends and family.

The only down side was that quite often an agent wasn't always available to accompany a potential buyer- All in all a good experience. I have used Romans twice now.

Veronica was really helpful when I was first looking for a property, and Annemarie has always been been friendly and acted quickly when things have needed doing/replacing in the flat.
