For whatever reason, Northview didn't properly vet the landlord or the flat before I'd moved in. The flat I wound up in was unsafe, had no insulation and one side of the base of the bed was inexplicably covered in what looked like dried bird droppings. The landlord would often make promises he had no intention of keeping when it came to repairs: there was a naked light bulb in the bathroom that he only bothered to replace after I'd raised a formal complaint and there's a loose floorboard he just never did anything about. He didn't clean the windows in between tenants which were caked in old bird droppings. To his credit, the bed (which I believe had been soiled by a dodgy old man who lived upstairs and had a pigeon obsession, as the security in the building, according to a previous tenant, had historically been quite bad) was replaced but it did take a week. The door in the flat below mine was eventually fixed but it was left ajar for about 15 days prior to that (even after I'd reported it to both the landlord and Northview's admin account). One thing that was never fixed was the interior wall in the bedroom which housed a family of mice. The previous tenant had apparently told the landlord about this before I'd moved in. The pest control "expert" that was sent to check did find a hole in the flat above mine that may have contributed to the problem but accorinding to the landlord, all he did was fill it up with glue. As a result, I was forced to sleep in the living room for most of the month that I stayed there as the scratching noises made by the mice grew louder. I hold Northview partially responsible for this as the entire time, the landlord would use Spyros as a shield whenever I wanted to discuss terminating the tenancy. It often felt as though Spyros' attempts to mediate the situation were doing more harm than good by prolonging it. Because of the support that Northview offered him, the landlord felt emboldened to threaten me with a lawsuit when I first tried to leave, would delay references and then attempt to charge me for cleaning that took place before I'd moved in (even though one of big issues with the flat was the fact that it had been filthy when I'd moved in). Both Hackney Council and the Mayor of London's office have been notified of this and my only hope if that when the new regulations come in this October, the rogue landlord in question will be unable to rent to unsuspecting tenants ever again.
Their fees were low but didn't make up for the miserable experience I ended up having whilst I was in the flat

Oct 23, 2018@Georgina, as your comment wasn't relevant to my review, I suspect you're probably just a bot of some sort. Given how bad my experience was, I really wouldn't be surprised if Northview paid someone to post fraudulent reviews on this site.
