The worst estate agents we’ve ever dealt with. We are a young couple who have recently moved back to Plymouth after me ending my studies in Southampton. We have been looking at several properties a week for months now, I noticed one had been on the market for a particularly long time so booked a viewing with Megan from Novahomes. Absolutely loved the property and cannot fault Megan, it was the first one that has really stood out to us. So we paid a £155 holding deposit on the day as well as giving notice on our current flat. We completed the referencing process and successfully passed! Absolutely ecstatic that we’d finally found somewhere, arranged a day to pick up the keys and finalise everything. Anyway I get an email from Novahomes THE DAY BEFORE we’re supposed to pick up the keys, apparently the Landlord has only just read our (already completed and “successful” references) and has not only changed his mind, he will only take us if you pay £75 more per calendar month along with 3 months rent in advance!!!! The flat was already a little over budget (especially considering its history of a mould problem, and vile carpets which we were willing to work with) me and my partner both work 7 day weeks so didn’t mind spending a little more to get exactly what we wanted. Novahomes not only let us down leaving us 2 weeks to find a new property or we’d be homeless! They have also refused to give our holding deposit back (which is illegal as we didn’t not want the flat, it was the landlord’s decision) I am now having to take legal action against the company as they have point blank refused to give us our money back because they took the property off the market for 10 days (please bare in mind it had been on the market already for about 2 months, so they weren’t earning money on it anyway) I would 100% NOT recommend this company. Clearly very money hungry and I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else, especially not when people are loosing their jobs and were about to go into a recession! We have since found another property with the company Julian Marks who have been amazing, so friendly and helpful as well as HONEST and clearly not money hungry thugs!
