William H Brown found us a property to rent in 2021. They assured us that there was still work being done on the property at the time, and that the issues we identified were all due to be fixed before we moved in. Turns out that they don't manage the property and had no control over repairs (or lack thereof). As soon as we were locked in, they abandoned us with a big 'not our problem', despite having lied to us to get us to sign. It was the job of a landlord who lived abroad and had no one looking after the property in the UK, and who would make threats about serving notices to vacate if we asked for anything at all (e.g. working hot water, a functioning oven, etc.). We stayed because we were locked into a contract, but it has been awful. A year's contract of mould, damp, no central heating, a boiler that stops working when it rains too much (to the point at which two separate engineer companies now refuse to come out to repair it when this occurs because a larger issue needs fixing), and a shower that doesn't have functioning controls later, and we are finally getting ready to leave. The property is back up on the William H Brown website with no inspection or survey and no care for the horrible ordeal we've been through, even though we've told them what it's been like. Apparently, all these issues don't disqualify the house from being on their books and available to let. In my experience, it seems that William H Brown do not care about tenants' experiences or providing decent housing.
Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.

Very poor experience with the Huddersfield branch. Appauling, they sell you the rented houses and then when you need repairs they cannot complete them, you have to nag, you have to threaten, poor landlords who pay them to sort out these problems we would do better just asking him ourselves cut them out completely and save him... Read Full Review
