VILE COMPANY POTENTIAL TENANTS BEWARE: DON’T DO IT unless you want to divulge your TAX CODE and other RIDICULOUS ASKS! READ ON to see how they DISCRIMINATE & can quite easily leave you out of pocket and HOMELESS! An appallingly unethical company. Get ready to be disposed of if they don’t think you’ve got ££££. Love taking your money, don’t like giving it back… CONTEXT: My partner & I were treated disgustingly by Dixons Lettings Agents. We are both currently professionals undergoing job transitions. My husband is transitioning from a Postgrad/LPC to full-time employment. I am switching from my fixed-term full time job to a summer placement, before returning to university in September. We were NEVER asked this, only that we were currently employed & details for my future employer. We placed an offer on 17th June following a viewing. The house was less £ per month than our current property, which we’ve been paying independently for the last 4 years. We paid the holding deposit of £280, with a move in date for the 27th of June. Our current tenancy ended 30th June, so we planned a nice, slow move. We were just waiting for them to call us to take the first month’s rent so we could get the keys. They were friendly at the beginning, but once they took that holding deposit, it was wildly different. On the Friday the 24th of June – THE DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING - we called our agent, concerned about the lack of contact. We were told the landlord was pulling out as he “found out” I was a student- information I freely volunteered to homelet. Despite being an adult with a great credit score who’d paid more £ rent for years, he didn’t want to have more risk to his insurance- some nonsense excuse– that they later refused to go into detail about in writing. Doubt we would have been told til Monday 27th- the planned move in- if we hadn’t have chased. I feel discriminated against due to my age& student status, my name was also butchered despite being corrected. Dixons left us with NO FIXED ADDRESS. When I pleaded over the phone if there was anything to be done, or alternate properties available (a couple of 2) we were told “We don’t have anything that’s suitable… for YOU”. 10 minutes later, crying and searching online to try and find a new home, hundreds of Dixons properties came up. Guess we’re not deserving clientele… So, on Friday afternoon, with lettings agents shutting for the weekend, we resigned ourselves to being homeless until a new place could reference & take a deposit-Square 1. We are massively out of pocket- they declined to give our holding deposit back instantly & told us to wait 2 weeks. Money during a COST-OF-LIVING CRISIS we could have put towards a deposit on a new property. We’ve also racked up so much £ by staying in temporary accommodation, moving everything to a storage unit, renting a moving van, the stress before our wedding and to be without a fixed address, scrambling to find a new house and time taken off work and loss of earnings… sounds like a lawsuit! RED FLAGS-they love outsourcing to random companies! One is Tili, used for switching over your utilities who will call, text and email NONSTOP. Even if your landlord rejects your offer! So imagine, being harassed ON YOUR WEDDING DAY AND AT WORK with calls asking you to sign over. One Tili man on the phone confessed he was sorry, and that Dixons is typically noncommunicative-typical! They reference using Homelet, which require an extortionate info-including Tax codes, which is abnormal. They also asked for our guarantor to earn above £34k-red flag! HEARTLESS STAFF: Tim Reynolds made our lives much harder. My partner is deferring assignments due to situation-instead of emailing a rejection instantaneously or agreeing to have him collect a letter physically, Tim insisted he would post it- well aware we’d lose access to our current property on the 30th. SPOILER:it never came on time. Clock is ticking on those 14 working days to give our deposit. If not, see you in small claims!:)

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.

I have had dealings with this estate agent a number of times. Not once have I had anything good to say about them. I am met with rudeness on the end of the phone and they are never willing to help with anything. Property purchase is at risk of falling through due to their lack of effort or... Read Full Review

When selling a house, we were looking for efficiency, professionalism, clear communication and care. This is what we got with the team at the Dixons Selly Oak branch. What impressed me most was only 3 days after we had excellent professional photos of our property, it was on market. From excellent... Read Full Review

I was renting a property managed by Dixon's with my house mate. I vacated the property after our contract had ended due to shockingly poor service. I informed Abigail Koasha from Dixons Selly Oak via e-mail that I had vacated the property and paid all the leavers fee's. I called to... Read Full Review
Ripped off with high fees from the very start and they continued to charge us for everything. None of the fees we were charged were ever listed in the contract.
