I am not one posting negative reviews, however due to the terrible renting experience through DJ Alexander Letting agent, Aberdeen, I feel the need to warn other potential renters as this can ruin your tenancy.
Some of the experiences below:
1. Keys handed at later time than promised causing delivery driver delays and extension
2. Gas heaters were still not working correctly one month after reporting, and moving in, this cannot be legal.
3. 6 months to perform various repairs which we were informed, would take one month only. This resulted in taking a lot of time off to be present at the property.
4. Inventory items were not not removed as promised on datetime promised.
5. Wasting time and days out, waiting contractors to sometimes turn up. This applies to DJA staff also who on a couple of occasions short minute cancelled the 3 month flat inspections.
6. Allowing people to enter flat with no notification to us.
7. My daughter was not treated nicely, experiencing ignored phone calls and emails by office, I suspect because of her young age 21. Excuse was always out of office.
8.During the move in, washing machine was not working, pantry roof was leaking water, toilet door was broken, fireplace badly marked with writing, cracked tiles in toilet, tap broken in kitchen, shed roof leakingdamaged
9.Cleaners had to to attempt to clean the cooker, black scorch marks could not be removed and still remain. The fan was also very dirty at move in. They had the cheek to tell us we had not cleaned the oven.
10. The 'end of tenancy report', DJA stating 'customers cost' slight bit of dust on skirting, piece of small paper on floor and similar. We entiterly cleaned the property but some very small dust issues existing.
They want to charge their own cleaning costs with no quote or cost agreed by us. They are not allowing our own cleaners to enter following rental termination. This is just a ticket to get money.
On looking at the hierachy of the people in the office, I can clearly see from Linkedin that the Aberdeen Property manager and senior property manager have little, or zero, previous property estate experience.
This has shown strongly thus the bad incompetence during the last year. Really beyond me how you can walk directly into a managrrs position with no experience.
Please beware that you may also suffer a similar experience to what we have, there is nothing worse than a bad tenancy experience. These agencies are meant to be our help, assist us where needed, DJ Alexander were definitely no good at this towards us, the staff we dealt with also need serious customer service training.
Honestly, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, they have been hell!

This company's Aberdeen office is the pits. Staff are rude, dismissive and just difficult to deal with. As a new landlord I was hoping to make a little stress free money from a residentual let. WRONG, there are a lot of hidden costs that have been poorly managed by DJ Alexander maintenance team since they took over.
1.I've had quotes of £600 to deal with a minor mould issue, that actually needed a window opening. The tenant eventually agreed to deal with it herself for £30.
2.Recently had a door broken in by the fire service due to a smoke alarm going off (false alarm). £320 to have alarms reinstated, and a quote for £2500+ to have door replaced. No explanation as to why the alarms went off, and so far no plan in place to prevent the same scenario happening again.
3.New boiler £3000
4.New RCD box apparently needed £450
5. Latest email from DJ Alexander to say resident concerned the radiator isn't working and a bulb needs replacing, please advise us a plan of action.
My plan of action would be to bleed the radiator and tap the maybe stuck thermostat, and get the tenant to replace the bulb, but I have no doubt I will be presented with a ridiculous questionable quote to fix some inflated problem.
This is all within 12 months ish...so far, id of been better off leaving money in an ISA.

Our short 3 month stint with DJ Alexander can only be described as 3 months of disorganization, poor communication, and extortionate charges.
After having multiple issues with the property we were renting from DJ, we found ourselves going round in circles trying to even have the issues acknowledged, so after only 2 months we terminated our tenancy.
I
n our checkout report, our property manager Asif Mohammad stated that the grass in the shared garden space was overgrown, but he stated in the report that we weren't responsible for this; despite this we were hit with a £175 bill for supposedly overgrown grass during our move-out. After checking around for quotes to cut a small patch of grass if was significantly less than what they had charged, but seeing as DJ use their very own gardening services, it wasn't surprising that they charge extortionate prices to fleece tenants of their deposits.
Getting responses from the end of tenancy “manager” Craig Mitchell felt like pulling teeth, we spent months of back and forwards emails. When we tried the deposits scheme, DJ Alexander conveniently waited out the 30-day clock before replying. Frustratingly, almost 5 months after moving out we ended up paying just to be done with it.
For anyone thinking of going with DJ Alexander, DON'T DO IT, you will regret. Try other letting agents like Burgh, Clan Gordon, Murrie and Currie etc.

The first I reported to DJ Alexanders; however, it appears there was no action taken as we had a second last night. I have now recorded the noise from the party and am seeking an appointment with the Director of letting in D J Alexanders in Edinburgh. We had the same problem with this flat some years ago, and *** the then director, ensured that we had responsible tenets.. Over the last five years, we have had terrific tenants, but we now have entitled new tenants who believe their right to a noise forty trumps longer-term residents' right to peace and quiet. It is difficult to establish who the director at D> J Alexanders id inorder to contact him. When phone you are only given access to junior staff members. Its not good enough</p>
