This agent has just given us eight weeks notice on a seven year let. We were told at the beginning that it was a long let. We have never defaulted on rent and only requested anything doing to the property twice (electrician to check the reason for a short circuit, which happened, and landlord to clear her rubbish from the garden and replace a broken down shed, which didn't). The letting agent did not offer to negotiate with the landlord and her approach was cold, rude, patronising and completely lacking in compassion or any understanding of why I might find this upsetting. She also only offered any kind of help in finding somewhere else on being prompted, and emphasised we would have to pay a higher rent due to a 'blossoming' market. Cesare and Co (or at least this member of staff) do the legal minimum they are required to do. and give the strong impression of not caring at all about tenants. After all, as I was reminded, it is the landlord who pays the fee not the tenant. I think this is down to a particular staff member, we got a much better service from her predecessor. We have only asked the landlord to do anything to the property on two occasions in seven years (to clear her rubbish from the garden and replace a broken fridge). Both times it has been extremely difficult to get any response at all from the letting agent, requiring repeated phone calls.
