Barbers, at least the Whitchurch branch, are a shambles from start to finish, and should be avoided at all costs. I made the mistake to rent a property for 12 months from them, and it is due to their sloppiness and lack of care and maintenance that i am leaving. From the start of enquiring, I was given the wrong forms. They then demanded my father go in during work hours. They kept him waiting a long period of time. Before giving him forms he had already completed. Thereby wasting his time. I then received the keys for the property. It took six months to get a signed tenancy agreement out of them, which i found disgusting. They also assured me that various repairs would be done before i moved in, but none were. last may there was a broken fence panel £10 that they haven't come out and fixed. (excess of 12 months, honestly??). In jan the uk experienced bad weather, which broke the Ariel on the roof. It was left to me to replace it, aswell as a rusted toilet seat that had fallen apart. I am also penalised by Damaging the Ariel by barbers which i find disgusting, as what tenant can be responsible for the weather. Barbers should be thanking me for maintaining the property, but no we are peanalised twice, oncefor replacing the item, and also for "damaging" the original. The main issue with the property, happened in January. I returned from work one day, to a ground floor full of water, and water pouring through the electric light, and a hole in the kitchen ceiling. It was APRIL before they had a plumber to come out and look at this. I had to get the house condemned by environmental health and kick up a fuss with barbers before they got someone out. How convinient that they have no records of Any of the problems I have logged! Despite me having proof. I was informed, wrongly, by Carol Dakin, that I am responsible for the the council tax on an empty property, for the month I've vacated. I've spoken to the council about this, and they put it in writing that i am not. I forwarded this to the Manager, and he didn't have the curtosy to reply. Instead they took my notice and put the property straight back onto rightmove. Surely they would fix the ceiling before trying to rent it to another tenant but no, all they are interested in is the money. If you want an agent that actually cares for the property, keep looking. I wouldn't go near barbers again with a barge pole. I am considering small claims court for the loss of replacing the aerial.
Handout the correct forms, maintain the property correctly, and not just be interested in the money!

May 14, 2014We are fully aware of the issues concerning this tenant. Our Property Management team have been dealing with this lady for some considerable time regarding her many problems. It is unfortunate that she felt it necessary to name 2 members of staff who are extremely professional and are held in high esteem by many landlords and tenants alike. We always aim to treat all our customers and clients with the greatest respect and care but when possibly dealing with arrears, property issues or breach of tenancy agreements, it unfortunately isn't always possible to keep all parties happy.
