Established in 1985 Churchills have established themselves as York’s leading independent Estate Agent. We have three local branches which offer an unbeatable coverage on York and the surrounding Villages.

We appointed Churchills to handle this sale after some very positive initial discussions, but the service we received was very mixed. They did some very good initial marketing and produced a great brochure - though even at that stage we were a bit concerned at the lack of attention to detail as we had to request quite a few changes to the floor plan before it was right. But then when it came to the first viewing it turned out that the director of the firm had lost the alarm code we had given him. We had several further minor hiccups when Churchills were handling viewings. After 4 viewings we received an acceptable offer, but we felt Churchills made very little effort in the early stages to bring the transaction to an exchange of contracts within the timescale we had agreed. It subsequently transpired that there were major problems with the first time buyers at the start of the chain, but it was not until around 10 weeks after we had accepted the offer before this became clear! We had made clear to Churchils from the outset that we need an exchange of contracts well before completion, but they did not seem to treat this as a priority. Communication with the rest of the chain was very poor until the final week, In the end contracts were only exchanged on the day of completion! When it became clear that very little progress was being made, Churchills more or less refused our request to put the property back on the market, and we came very close to instructing another agent.

Highly recommended company and equally highly recommended branch; plenty of selling tips throughout my sale with many (many many!!) tweaks to the house to help sell it also. Sold within 3 months only delay was the new buyers went on holiday over Xmas otherwise would have been sooner. Thanks a million again. Acomb Branch will be pleased to know when we go back to Churchill's in the future our branch will be Bishy Road I'll give them plenty of notice (ð)... Darren x

I cannot praise Jane and Abby from the Acomb office enough with helping me with selling my house. They returned my calls promptly if they were not able to speak to me when i called, and went out of their way to keep me in the loop at all times. They were patient no matter how many times I called and were particularly understanding when i was stressed out, as I had a lot of other life changing events going on the same time as my move! Jane in particular was kind and compassionate beyond her job description but also remained professional throughout. I would not hesitate in using Churchill's again and I am grateful to Jane and Abby for all their help and advice.
