We moved out of the property we were renting with the NORWICH branch of William H Brown three months ago and are yet to receive our FULL deposit back.
We had the property professionally cleaned and made sure everything was as it should be, yet William H Brown are doing everything in their power to withhold our deposit due to a landlord not responding to have the funds released.
We are owed £1,500 by William H Brown, the only reason we've been given for them withholding our deposit is "unpaid bills", which we have proven time and again is not true. They have not sent any evidence of these bills and after contacting the council and OVO directly, they have confirmed there is no money owed on our accounts.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AND THEIR SUBSIDARY, SEQUENCE HOME AT ALL COSTS.
As a side note, if you're renting in Norwich DO NOT rent a property owned by Silver Let LTD. They are crooks and will try to steal your money.

The WORST customer service I have ever encountered, and it seems I very much dodged a bullet. I recently went to view a rental property, agreed to pay 12 months rent upfront and a provisional move-in date, signed the tenancy, paid the 1st month's rent and damage deposit in advance (rest on sale completion), and was advised to call back within the hour to speak to John to arrange key collection 48 hours later.
It wouldn't be a lie if I told you that John, also the Area Lettings Manager, is the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. In the 1.5 hours, he sat opposite me arguing, I was told to shut up and be quiet twice (his actual words). I was shouted at. I was called a bully because I wanted to know why all four staff members had failed to call the landlord or myself back the day before. I had questions ignored. I was lied to when I asked if the calls were recorded (even though other staff members have confirmed they were). I was laughed at. I was also told (with a big smirk on his face) that he had advised the landlord to re-market the property if I hadn't completed and transferred the balance of 17k by close of play the next working day and would now not be allowed to move in, as agreed. It appears the poor lady I had spoken to on the phone was only a trainee and shouldn't have dealt with my call.
Feeling backed into a corner, I advised the landlord I would withdraw my application. The property is now back on Rightmove and empty, and WHB needs to start all over again with viewings and referencing and refund my money.
This is only a snippet of the complete cock up its been from start to finish. The landlord and I have raised formal complaints, but am I surprised? No. I have never heard anything good about them, and their staff turnover is incredibly high, but look at how their Manager treats people.

Absolutely awful experience with William H Brown in Norwich.
We viewed a property in January and put a holding deposit down to be told the next day that the property had actually been let to someone else. We shortly agreed to rent a different property from them with this holding deposit being transferred. We had very little contact from them after this despite phoning and emailing, we only received replies when chased and they were always very short. In addition, we found out by looking on their website that this property was actually for sale so this added to the waits for a contract to come through.
So, we paid a holding deposit in January and by mid July still had not received a tenancy agreement (long past the 15 days legally required). After trying to reach them throughout this time, we decided to let a property with a different company. When we told W H Brown this, we were met with animosity and anger and the first words out of the agents mouth we’re “well you won’t get your money back”, to which we requested he looked back through our correspondence to see if he thought we’d been treated fairly, and a few hours later he phoned to say we would have our money returned.
Legally, they have one week to return this money after a tenancy agreement cannot be reached, the money took 3 weeks to return to my account, and each time I chased it I was told a different thing.
Overall, we found William H Brown to be nothing more than an office full of people who can never answer the phone or answer an email, and that clearly don’t understand the laws and regulations in their own industry. They were utterly incompetent. We will never use a Sequence/William H Brown company again.

This is about the Norwich branch.
Unfortunately I have to agree with all the comments about them below. Highly unprofessional and aggressive with students. They do have a lot of properties and so you are forced to go with them and landlords don’t seem to care about this. Their contract is very one sided and they will not change one point.
If you can find a property with another letting agent I would strongly suggest going with someone else or finding out from current tenants who their landlord is and dealing directly with them. We dealt directly with the landlord as this company was so incompetent and aggressive and even complained to the manager who couldn’t care less. Kerry the landlady agreed and we dealt with issues between us.
