1 week's rent in fees - which is London is a tidy sum for doing very little. The landlord was also amazed and appalled to hear that we'd been charged this much.

It was already suspicious how she found these other people to make a higher offer the moment we submitted ours, but we decided we liked the place, and increased our offer. The 'other bidder' didn't want to go higher, and we agreed on a price with the seller and started the process of buying our first home, so we have our own nest in a few months when our first baby arrived. On Rightmove it wrote that the property was no longer available, which was comforting.

We hired solicitors and got the mortgage broker involved in obtaining the mortgage for us. The broker was slow and not very good, so we hired another guy, and three weeks into the process, we had the funds pre approved. At this stage, Candy, our agent, called us and said that someone who'd seen the property 7 months earlier (?!) had called her and made a higher offer than ours, and that she was obligated to pass that onto the vendors. Where were all these offers coming from, if no one had made an offer on the flat the previous 8 months? I wouldn't be surprised if the moment we made our first offer, she started calling anyone who previously expressed an interest to let them know someone made an offer and try to get them to do the same.
The new offer was quite a bit higher, so we missed out on the apartment, as well as lost money on solicitors and the mortgage broker for no reason. Not to mention all the time we wasted because we have a baby on the way and the clock is ticking.
Overall a very disappointing experience â do not trust Atkinson McLeod as all they want is to make an extra buck and don't care about you as a buyer in the least.

Aaron was very efficient and professional in finding a tenant for my property. I'm having a big problem with the Hackney office and no one there seems to be able to help.
I've had so many problem since I started the journey of finding a flat to move with them that I don't know where to begin explaining.
*So far this has been the worse experience of my life when it comes to finding a new flat.
I'm going to start my problems from the day I was supposed to get the keys of the apartment with everything that was originally agreed in the offer.
I had other problems apart from that, but I want to focus on the new ones.
On the day I got the keys I received a message saying I had to be in the flat the next day so someone from Bosh could go and fix the frigde.
I explained this was already supposed to be fixed before the move in date, the Atkinson Mcleod said this was not their problem and we had to check with the landlord as it was his responsibility.
We had several discussions over the phone and in the end we settled things with the landlord as we would not be available to wait a whole day for someone to fix the flat.
The problem here is that I didn't want to start the contract on the date we did, we accepted in the end because the agent said the landlord didn't want to start the contract 2 days later.
But in the end we got the keys to a flat that still needed a couple of days extra so it would be given to us as per our original offer/agreement.
When we finally arrived in the flat 2 days later after the contract started, we were shocked.
The flat is filthy, with hair all over the floor, dust, dirt from the previous tenants. The bathroom are impossible to use, the floor has stains and it was simply disgusting.
The floor was sticky, there were crumbles in the kitchen counter and drawers. There was knives from old tenants in the dish washer and a lot of furniture and appliances we specifically said we didn't want.
And further to that the freezer door has not been fixed properly, it is quite loose and will probably break if not fixed properly.
The washing machine is not working, there are light bulbs that are not working and other bulbs that are missing lamps!
Clearly no one checked the flat before handing over the keys to us, and we had to find all of this during our move.
Apart from all of that, the team from the Hackney branch refuses to help, and says this is a problem that needs to be taken to the landlord.
The landlord says he agreed things with the state agency and says we should speak with them, so at the moment there's no one that can help us solve this situation, so please stay away from them if you want a smooth process.
