Very poor service delivered. As the purchasers we are aware the agent is to act for the vendor but we experienced a catalogue of mishaps from the branch manager being late for first viewing with no apology through to another mishap over keys upon completion. The service we have received was very poor and would put me off considering this agent again when we come to rent the property out or even sell on. Emma was great, we dealt with her initially, she was very reliable and always got back in touch but once memo of sale went out we didn't hear a thing from anyone with any general updates. We asked for the gardens to be tidied up at the beginning of December and the vendor only found out about this request three days prior to completion. We were advised upon me chasing this up again, the vendor was able to pop over at the weekend after completion to sort it out as worked late. I called back and left a voicemail advising as the vendor doesn't live nearby after some thought, we would sort this out ourselves. On the day of completion, we asked the agent to chase key release up and were advised it wasn't really their job and the vendor's solicitor will call them. Having bought numerous properties, I am aware this would have been a two minute phone call yet seemed to be such a chore. Upon receiving the keys, we were handed the incorrect set, the agent called and asked us to call back to collect the correct ones, this wasn't convenient for us so they met us with the correct set but no apology was made, only an excuse that the S and F on the tagging system had been muddled up. Once we were finally into the property, it was evident that half of the keys were not belonging to our property; we contacted the agent who advised that was what the vendor handed in the envelope and to dispose of if there was no use for them. I explained there was one of their tags on there with a different code that the vendor wouldn't have been able to have access to add onto her set or amend but I was advised they didn't want them as they were no use to them either and to dispose of. The following day, the vendor arrived to do the garden (no message had been passed onto her about this not being required anymore) so I queried the additional keys. The vendor kindly confirmed they did not belong to the property and were not handed in to the agent by herself. We handed back to the agent, hopefully saving someone needing to replace them and weren't even acknowledged by the branch manager for the mishap, we didn't receive a thank you for dropping off or an apology for the further inconvenience caused. It's a concern to think you would trust an agent with keys to your property and they don't follow a simple policy in place to keep these secure or abide by the Code of Practise for Residential Estate Agents!!

not a good letting agent. I dont have time to share all the bad experiences. Just dont use them. A very basic expectations such as pick up the phone and provide a status, call back if they said they will call back, etc. will not be met. You as a tenant will not get any status update. Their best contractors will not come until something is broken by their worst contractors. Most of the time the job is done half or not started at all. There is always some dependency, and there is always some valid reason. They have more valid reason than actual solutions. The maintenance team will waste your time. I personally have wasted more than 3 hrs in just calling and reviewing maintenance tickets. They have more sales people than in maintenance. Bottom line, after the sale is made you do not get any priority in maintenance. Even if you are a land lord you will have problems. Why would you use Jan Foresters ? You you are stuck with them. When you have no other options. This is my situation.

I sold my mother's house very quickly through Jan Forster. I only requested a valuation with a view to putting up for sale. When we chose our place Jen was extremely efficient in sending the documents we needed to fill out, answering any questions we had, and getting in touch with the UK tenant data.
The whole process from expressing interest in the flat to having the keys was made really easy and very quick.

The staff in the whitley bay branch never helped me when I struggled with the door and my pram and the older man was always abrupt.
Staff didn't talk to each other so I would get numerous phone calls about keys etc.
