I requested to void my contract with Charlton Grace within 24 hours of signing it (which is my legal right given there is a 14 day cooling off period for estate agent contracts). The photos * took of my property were out of focus and poor quality. I attempted to speak with him directly regarding this and left two messages asking him to call me back. When I received no response I e-mailed him. He then rang my phone several times leaving what can only be described as an incredibly abusive voicemail describing me as a disgusting, disrespectful person, that I had signed a contract and that was that (effectively denying my legal right to cancel said contract), threatening to tell everyone he knew and had influence with about "how badly I had treated him" (simply because I politely requested to cancel my contract - this to him seemingly constitutes gross personal offence & justifies his totally unhinged response). He said that I ought to keep him happy if I wanted to find a property to buy in the future because his sellers will not be pleased to hear ";what I have done to him". He was aggressive, unprofessional (at best) and attempted to scaremonger and bully me into remaining with Charlton Grace. What he threatened to do to my chances of buying a property as a consequence of terminating our contract is illegal. He is also in breach of several regulations surrounding transparency regarding the 14 day cooling off period for contracts. I have reported him to the property ombudsman and would highly recommend you avoid this estate agent at all costs; incompetent, unprofessional and totally deranged.
