Disappointed with the amount of money is been taken from the deposit as Northwood has not taking in consideration how the property was at the beginning of the tenancy and how we have take care of, they were unable to tell us about the parking situation (they suggested to park on the visitors place) and finally we discovered that the landlord was letting the property with a garage that we were unable to use for 4 years (We have been there 5 years and paying for it). Not wanting to go to trial as tired to argue with the letting agency and the landlord, but we will NOT recommend this agency. Thank you.

Jul 2, 2020Dear Luis, I am sorry that you do not agree with deposit deductions that your landlord has claimed for. As an agent, we work on behalf of the landlord and whilst we can provide our professional advise to them, I'm afraid that we have to take their instructions when it comes to making a claim against a tenancy deposit. If you do not agree with the claim that your landlord has suggested, you are able to the deposit into a dispute where an independent adjudicator will then assess all evidence provided by both parties. The independent adjudicator has no connection whatsoever with Northwood and is appointed as an Independent Case Examiner for the government approved Tenancy Deposit Scheme used for your tenancy. If you are able to clarify the tenancy that your review relates to and if you would like to discuss this further, I am more than happy to clarify any misunderstandings that you may have. We have had our house rented through Northwood Plymouth for just short of 9 years. We have consistently received excellent customer service and support from the lettings team via a 'long distance' professional relationship as we live in Australia :)
Recently we decided to sell our home and this was done through Jackie Marker who is an asset to Northwood Plymouth. She has provided us with an exceptional service. She went out of her way to ensure the house was in an immaculate condition ready for selling and has been 100% committed to selling our house.
I would definitely recommend Northwood Plymouth for renting or selling a house.

Past landlord who went for guaranteed rent scheme with Northwood in Plymouth.
Northwood constantly changed monthly payment amounts due to me from sub tenant.
Damage caused by a Northwood sub tenant, money taken by Northwood from deposit scheme not used for repairs at property. No explanation of where money went.
Contract not renewed last September 2015 with Northwood, requested my property keys not given to me, staff Hayley and Andrew Chapman rude and arrogant, my wife was asked to leave the Northwood office, no reason given by staff mentioned. Keys never returned to me, had to change my locks at property at a cost of £50.00. Northwood threatened to evict sub tenant kept at my property two days before Christmas 2015. I refused and kept tenants in my property. Northwood used rent in October 2015 last months rent £600 for tenant find fee ,no explanation of where money was used for tenant find, no receipt sent even after several requests.Caused me to be out of pocket during the Christmas period.
Property ombudsman has been involved and Northwood have to pay compensation to me of £250.00 for damages caused by sub tenant and not repaired by Northwood.
Landlords please avoid using this company, they are only interested in making a profit and not focused on the landlord or sub-tenant.

Complaints Procedure
Northwood aims to run a high calibre lettings and estate agency business. Whilst we do our best to operate in a professional way and to the highest standards, it is possible that you may be unhappy about how we have dealt with a particular situation.
We have a standard procedure for handling complaints which is as follows:
1. Making an initial complaint
Each office is independently owned and operated and has a local Director who will be, in part or in whole, an owner of the branch. In the first instance your complaint should be directed in writing to the local Director. He or she has an honest and sincere desire to resolve your complaint as soon as possible and should respond within ten working days.
2. Making a formal complaint
If for whatever reason you remain dissatisfied then you should write or email The Property Ombudsman. Please provide full written details of your complaint and copies of any supporting evidence. The Property Ombudsman will provide an independent review of the complaint.
