Ascend was founded on the belief that estate agents could do a lot better. We\'d been working in the industry for a long time and were frustrated that most agencies were just so ordinary. Like their houses, these places were in ne
ed of a new lick of paint. Bit of rising damp in the basement too. So we decided to build our own home. A team of quick thinkers and good listeners also did a rare thing: treat customers like people instead of transactions. Because they knew great service wasn\'t just about experience and expertise. I strongly recommend the renters to avoid them. I was their tenant and delivered the property in excellent condition. The worst ever experience I have ever had. I moved in to the apartment and there was no power, I called the agency and was told they couldn't help as the energy company will only relate to the account owner. I spent 4hours on the phone with the energy company trying all sorts and waited for another 5hours for an engineer to show up who never did. The apartment was so cold, no power couldn't cook, nothing. Only to find out that the account is listed to Ascend Estates Limited. Which should make sense, because during viewings, there was always power, now moving in, nothing, nada. Had to spent night at an Airbnb, couldn't sleep in the apartment I paid for due to terrible cold. No one from the agency even called to find out how we had settled in, I tried all the numbers that went through during viewings, referencing, payment, now there is a problem on Day 1, no one picked up their call…..Just Terrible.

It's a shame ascend properties were unable to live up to their expectation as being a reputable service. Firstly when we moved into the property the code on the key was wrong to get into the building, the hob didn't work for 2 months before someone came out despite reporting it on the first day. We were promised black out blinds which never came because the landlord didn't want to spend on them, these took a month before we even had any. Our tenancy contract was registered to the wrong address 3 times. 3 bills were set up initially by ascend and then registered to the wrong address. On our initial file we were handed, our electricity meter was incorrect, there are meant to be 13 digits, we had 10. Their was a constant lack of information on who to contact to change our internet supplier. As we're ending the tenancy, ascend has been holding our deposit for 2 months and we're unable to contact the accounts team.

One of the best experiences turned into probably the worst, Tom has been extremely helpful and started my application as soon as I replied to video tour sent via WhatsApp...but made a vital mistake with the price, costing me extra £120 for the year in rent which I only found out when I was signing the documents, mistake with what was included in the property, supposedly were lot of maintenance and cleaning done prior to move in but I pretty much found it in a same state as it was viewed before, lots of promises and no results, dirty/smelly carpets, oven and freezer however which I can clean myself as agency declared as "Did not feel it needed doing". Sent my friend to pick up my keys on the moving day, this was from a person we haven't dealt with before, he had no clue what was going on, didn't ask for ID and we have been told we could only pick up the keys after 5pm on the day my tenancy started because of a certificate hasn't been done, but the property was empty for weeks before...I have been in contact with 4 different agents at this point. Overall disappointing and very stressful experience with Ascend Properties.

Tom was kind, courteous, and happy to answer all my questions over the phone and by email, and made the process simple and easy to understand. He provided us with plenty of options, and made sure everything was understood. He did not apply any pressure to sign up and overall was one of the best letting agents I've dealt with.
He has made the process of locating a property and getting signed up effortless, and is a credit to the agency.
