I went to see a property to let as I have 3 children and my current landlord has sold this address. I was told to put in a application and pay £100 holding fee straight away, so as there was no mention of a landlord I assumed it was a housing association who owned the property, however we passed the credit check and on the form it asks if we would like them to sort out our Internet for the new address we clicked yes. They called us and we did this as we had passed the credit checks. Next we was told that us and another person had passed and been sent to the landlord to choose, however in the mean time they were still taking more applications. So basically waiting for a better candidate. The next thing we notice was the house online had changed and now said 'to let'. We wasent happy as we wasent notified. They now have my £100 and whoever applied theirs too ever though this should be a holding deposit not a credit check deposit. This process They did backwards meant we lost out of looking at other properties as we could not afford to lose this £100. I won't ever use these again! Disappointing is the word!
