This lady turned around a major issue that l had been trying to sort out with another agent within Roman's for TWO WEEKS!! In just one afternoon.
I have been without heating for over 2 weeks the agent that l was currently dealing with was reactive rather than proactive to say the very least!! I had to continuously chase the previous agent for any sort of update. I then spoke with Denise Hurn who in an afternoon a friday afternoon l may add and has arranged an engineer to come out this week to fit a new heater in our living room for the early part of this week. My advise is...if you need a problem dealt with urgently professionally and efficiently Denise Hurn is the lady to speak to. Fantastic service.

Poor service throughout tenancy, mislead into signing on to "no deposit scheme" as it would "look better to landlord". Leak developed in pipes in flat above causing mould on walls in bathroom and on ceiling in lounge, made multiple complaints over course of 6 months and only got fixed when water started leaking through hole in living room roof. Generally poor communication with us and between departments - each query answered by different person with no communication between them leading to multiple phone calls and emails to get issues resolved that had been "solved". Avoid if possible.

On the face of it, Romans is a pretty average lettings agent. They have a decent selection of properties and as a large business have all the people and processes in place you expect. On the face of it, Romans is a pretty average lettings agent. They have a decent selection of properties and as a large business have all the people and processes in place you expect.
The experience of actually renting through them is terrible. Be prepared to spend hours pushing to get anything that breaks replaced, if you’re lucky you’ll get your boiler fixed within a month.
When we moved in, our apartment had apparently been ‘professionally cleaned’, funny how there was curry powder in every kitchen cupboard and mud on the carpets, must all be part of that ‘sparkle service’ we were charged for on check in.
When moving out 2 years later, the inventory report they took was remarkably more detailed than the check in report on entry. We left that place immaculate, yet every tiny scuff from previous tenants was attributed to us and a fine of £100 was charged.
I will never be renting from Romans again and just hope somebody reads this and decides to save themselves the awful experience that we had. Beyond the shoddy service, it’s the fact they actually fine you for their scams that really infuriated me.
My experience from Romans left me feeling like I was a cash cow for them to milk as much money from as possible. Romans is a terrible company to consider letting from, I hope you don’t make the same mistake that we did. Let these incompetent, unprofessional and hurtful people go out of business.

We have been renting with Romans for over a year now and we continue to be very disappointed with their service. They add on extortionate admin fees wherever possible, are very hard to get hold of when there is an issue and the customer service at this branch is awful. I have specifically made a request to my landlord to stop using them so I dont have to deal with this anymore.

I would highly recommend that you use any other agent other than Romans. Their customer service skills are awful, becoming rude with me, my partner and then my mum over the phone. We rented from romans who lied to us that the property has no leaks. The ensuite leaked into bedroom 4 and to the downstairs once we moved in. At check out the landlord supported by romans is holding our deposit for every nail when they know we didn't do it. They want to charge us for maintenance that should have been done by the owners. The owners are cheap and romans support them and not act on the intergrity and honesty. They all about money.
I would no rent from them even if I had to sleep on the street. Disgusting service

The landlords live abroad therefore Romans cannot assist with issues immediately., The landlords also look for any means to make money by holding the deposits, not sorting out water issues. The only plus side are good neighbours other then that run down house with lack of resolution by both agent/landlord!

Everything they do is driven by their fees, or setting up for future fees. Reported them to the OFT. Avoid Romans like the plague.

Staff need to be more polite and less bullying their tactics, think some would benefit from customer service training. Also need to review their processes and procedures as they have failed on many accounts

Was a nightmare when we applied for the property and never returned phone calls, then when we terminated our tenancy, viewings were arranged without our consent, and they turned up when they wished with no respect for our home (dirty shoes walking everywhere).
Charlotte Kelly was particularly rude and when I complained about her attitude and behaviour towards a customer, was ignored, and no follow up was made of my complaint.
Fees are above average for area for renting a property and once the property is let, they basically wash their hands of you and do not provide assistance or support when required.
Really disappointing, and one of the worst tenancies I have ever experienced in the 10 years+ I have been renting.

I have used Romans twice now to rent a property, the first time was a let only service and the current time ison a rent collection basis. so it has just come up to our renewal and considering me and my partner have just changed jobs, I ask to change our rent payment date as they are going to have to draw up a new tenancy agreement anyway, and all I get told is no we don't allow that anymore. Are you kidding!!? Having worked in the estate agency business for 4 years now I have never heard such rubbish in my life! All because it causes problems with the agreement, well I thought that is why it would be easy to do it now as you are drawing up a new agreement! They clearly have no respect for tenants and I am seriously considering going to the Property Ombudsman service as I am sure there is something not right about not allowing to change your rent payment dates (which by the way I offered to pay the interim period for)!! I am not happy to say the least! Let's see what they're going to do now I'm not agreeing to pay the rental increase!!

- Less hidden clauses in the contract - More professional communication - Better in-office trained staff - Remove anti-consumer practices like partnering with energy companies for additional (unnecessary) commission - Take fewer agency fees for basic and essential paperwork (which should come from the rent cut)

Agent pulls out random contract clauses regularly to take more money from you.
In the small print, they are allowed to sign you up for an energy company and act as you when doing so, meaning you don't get to read the contract you agree with the energy company. That company also does everything they can to take more money from you.
They didn't pay for essential parts of the plumbing that were missing when I moved in.
Take ridiculous agency fees for any kind of paperwork (even for continuing a contract, where no details have changed).
When I've gone to the office, I've always found myself talking to what seems to be an intern who has no idea what's going on.
When having a flat inspection, I've come home to find the door not locked properly as I had left it.
Your rent will regularly increase over time, not due to any local house market increase, but because they will by default.
You will have an easier life and less hassle avoiding these people at all costs.

Jon: Jon sold us the service well and moved well on the offer once it came in.
General: We were disappointed with the number of prospects that came through the property, and only having 2 viewers to an open house was a let-down. Clearly the first real prospect through the house put down a reasonable offer a few hours after seeing it, and we feel we could be a lot further down the process if the prospects had been brought through.

We both though it would take a while to sell the property, but we sold it within 5 viewings (10 days on the market). We are very pleased with the service we have received from Jon and Romans.
