After having my property on with Alex Jones for 7 months and no offers despite me dropping the price, I decided to have another agent come to view my property. On the agent looking at right move for my property it became apparent that Alex Jones had taken my property off the market… No discussion No contact Nothing So, I decided to go to the office to address the situation. On entering the office there were 3 people present - none of whom I had met previously. I asked for the key for my address, to be given it no question or checks on my identification!!! Once being handed the key I asked the guy who'd given it to me why the property had been taken off the market (I now presume this person to be Alex). He said “because it needed reducing” When questioned if it was normal practice to remove someone's property from the market without any form of communication, I was told that somebody had tried to contact me. I asked when, and was given a vague look… I explained further that I'd had no calls, no texts and no emails. Now this is the point where it gets worse still… As a 49 year old woman I was spoken to with not just disrespect, but also as if I was stupid. When asking Alex (politely) not to speak to me in such a way… He response was “I think you should just leave” If this review isn't enough to put you off using this atrocity of a company. Then I suggest you go on google reviews to see further negative ones from other disgruntled customers such as myself. Oh, and also to see the company's responses to them - which is enough testament in itself!!! WOW is just an understatement to how I've been treated today Absolutely appalling!!!

Jan 18, 2022Hi Cheryl, I'm sorry to receive your review and see that you are not happy with the service which you received. I will try to address your points as well as I can in chronological order. When we first valued your property in July 2021 we valued it at **. You had other valuations from other agents above this, one of them being *** and so we landed on listing the property at ****. We had 15 viewings until September 20th and the overwhelming feedback from these viewings was that the property was too expensive. We wanted to reduce the price to ***** based on this feedback and you agreed to reduce it to 'Offers in Excess of £183,000' on September 20th. We then had a further 5 viewings until November 2nd - at which point we recommended reducing less than ***** as we didn't feel that a £3000 decrease would have a big enough effect and this wouldn't be reflective of it's true market value. Unfortunately you did not agree and would not reduce the property any less than *****: despite the overwhelming feedback being that the property is worth less than this and our advice which was given to you on multiple occasions from different members of staff. We then had 13 more viewings up until January 13th 2022 with again the overwhelming feedback being that the property is not worth ***** in its current condition. You were unwilling to reduce the property any further so we felt that we had no option but to dis-instruct your property as it was becoming evident that it was a waste of our time and may be better for yourself to try a new agent: with new marketing and a fresh approach it may be best for all parties. We therefore sent you the below e-mail: 'From: carl@alex-jones.co.uk <carl@alex-jones.co.uk> Sent: 17 January 2022 16:46 To: '******> Subject: 15 ******* Good Afternoon I hope you are well. We have been looking over your property and since being on the market with us we have conducted 33 viewings. On this occasion we have not been successful in achieving a sale for you. We thank you for the initial instruction to us but feel that a new fresh approach from an alternative agent may be the way forward for you. Please let us know if you would like to collect the keys or you would like them posted through the door? We thank you for initially instructing us and wish you the best in the future sale of your property. Kind Regards, Carl King' We therefore firstly presumed that when you came into the office for your keys that you had read the e-mail and were simply coming to collect the keys - as would be the normal practice. After I had explained to you that we had sent you an e-mail, you said you hadn't received it, to which I asked have you checked your junk mail? (Because lots of our e-mails unfortunately have a habit of going in junk mail) You then switched and turned very aggressive and confrontational (not polite at all - contrary to your version of events) accusing me of calling you stupid? I don't stand for any form of aggression from customers so simply asked you to leave my office. There is no excuse for complete disrespect and we don't stand for it at our business. All 5 of us who work at Alex Jones had spent time and effort trying to sell your property over a 6 month period and to receive the attitude you gave today was not expected. Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
