I rented a property on Earls Drive through Haart for just over 2 years and had countless issues with them ranging from general incompetency to downright fraudulently taking money from me. The most prominent example of the former is when the landlord let himself into our (locked) house early one morning while me and my girlfriend were getting ready for work, and after I told Haart that he had been in breach of the tenancy agreement by trespassing onto the property, I was told that they "..made it very clear that this should not happen again but unfortunately he wasn’t able to give [them] the same assurances." so I had to live at my house knowing he might enter the property whenever he feels like. After telling them he was not only in breach of the tenancy agreement but also committing an offence under the Landlord and Tenants Act, my email was ignored. Another example of their general incompetency relates to the deposit for the property. I left the property on May 16th, and I'm writing this review now because I received the deposit back today. They missed their deadline to return the deposit to me by 12 weeks citing the fact they could not contact the landlord, and they only sent it back in the end because I had to raise a lengthy dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (who Haart refused to respond to for the entire duration of the dispute) . Being unable to reach or speak to the landlord appears to be a big issue for a company whose sole purpose is to be a middle man between the tenant and the landlord and is in fact being PAID for that very responsibility. The biggest issue I had with the company and the reason for the review relates to early release from my contract. I was contacted before my tenancy was up to ask if I wanted to renew, where I told Haart that I would be buying a property and moving out within the year. I was told, and I have written proof of this, that it would cost £225 (+VAT) to be released early from a 12 year tenancy if I wished to sign on anyway. Deciding that I liked the security of a fixed term contract, I signed the agreement and would pay the £225. 6 months later when it came to requesting release from the contract, I was told that at some point over the last 6 months 'terms and conditions' had changed and the new price was £560. I argued that this was not the price I had been quoted prior to signing, and I was told that if I did not pay the £560 they would not relist the property and I would be expected to pay full rent for the empty property for a further 6 months. Having no other choice I paid the increased fee, but it is clear to me at this stage I was deliberately deceived so haart could make more money. If you are looking up reviews to see whether it is worth renting a property through Haart I urge you to look elsewhere. They will not perform the job you are paying them to perform, and they will use immoral and sometime even unlawful business practices to squeeze money from you while they do it.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
