We have been trying to move for 3 years and have achieved success at last. During this time Les Carter, Manager, Douglas Allen has been extremely supportive and understanding. His extensive experience allows him to give excellent advice in difficult situations to finds solutions. Douglas Allen have recently introduced a Tendering process to sell houses where, we, as Sellers gained by paying a small flat fee as opposed to their commission. The additional £5000 we saved allowed us to make an offer for a property we could not afford. Additionally, the Tendering process meant we sold our house at a good price reflecting the correct market vaue. Both these aspects made buying the property we really wanted possible. The support team in Douglas Allen Barkingside branch are also excellent and supportive. We fully recommend Douglas Allen as a top professional, trustworthy and effective estate agent!

The team at Barkingside branch of Douglas Allen are ok, but unfortunately they recommended JS Law for the conveyancing of the sale and purchase of our properties, and JS Law are completely incompetent. Did not seem to work particularly hard for what we paid. Had multiple quotes from different firms before property went to market, and Douglas Allen were towards the most expensive.

The team at Barkingside branch of Douglas Allen are ok, but unfortunately they recommended JS Law for the conveyancing of the sale and purchase of our properties, and JS Law are completely incompetent. For that reason I have to give Douglas Allen 1/5. We were overcharged on multiple occasions, lied to by staff and the service was slow, stressful and full of errors that we had to sort out ourselves. So unless Douglas Allen change their legal team we cannot recommend them.

all in all...very poor....no communication, unprofessional practices and untrustworthy. put an offer in for a ig5 property, told it was refused and house no longer on market. then never returned my phone calls. low and behold 5 months later the house was sold for 25,000 under my offer price!... Worked out of hours for us! When we were waiting for the sellers decision, she remained in contact with us even when she was out on a Friday night dinner with family!
All in all this is a great team to work with. They treat your more as 'friends' than commission. We have have been through a lot of agents but this team is defiantly one that works on your needs.

The sale of our home in Redbridge has just gone through via Douglas Allen Barkingside. We dealt mainly with Les Carter the Manager and he has been top drawer throughout the process. We tried another local agent first who were rubbish, we approached Les as we had seen lots of his boards in our area, he was very smooth talking and quickly persuaded us to pay him a higher fee than our last agent, as it turned out this was well worth it as we sold for 15k more than the other agent tried for. Keith has also been very helpful in pushing the sale through.

Use this agent as they are superb . They have a really innovative scheme called sale by tender
Whereby they put my property in an auction style scenario with a closing date for buyers to make offers by, the other great part was they charged me less than £200 to sell the house as the buyer paid my fee instead of me. When Les first offered me this method I must admit to bring a tad sceptical as it was unheard of he was very persuasive and talked me into doing it this way and I'm delighted I did as I got an excellent price and paid next to nothing to sell . I spoke with Abbots and Haart before I had DA round but as soon as Les showed me his marketing methods I was sold on this company he was also very confident and generally stood out as someone I wanted to do business with. If you are selling in the Redbridge area you would be crazy not to use Douglas Allen and their tender scheme

Hassan and Keith both assisted during the conveyancing process and although it took around about 4 months to conclude the sale, this was due mainly to the Legal side rather than Douglas Allen.I would recommend Douglas Allen to any prospective seller.

1. Les never returned phone calls after the contract was signed.
2. Staff made appointments to view the property and discuss marketing strategy but didn't turn up.
3. Described the property on rightmove incorrectly and didn't correct even after pointing out number of times.
4. Arranged viewings for which no one turned up.
5. Charged for photos but refused to give them to me when I asked for them.
Needless to say, they didn't sell the property and were not bothered when I terminated the contract. I think I just wasted time giving them a sole agency.

I have just completed the sale of my property in Redbridge and I used Douglas Allen in Barkingside, I had 4 agents value my home and was torn between using Douglas Allen and one other, the reasons I chose Douglas Allen were their marketing and photos looked far better than any other agent and also Les Carter the Branch manager was so confident and persuasive that it inspired me to want to use him, their fees were roughly half a percent dearer than the other agent however the price they ended up selling my home for was £20,000 more than the other agent thought they could get, even after paying their extra half a percent I am more than quids in. It took just 3 weeks for them to find me a buyer and around 8 weeks to conclude the sale, Hassan was my main contact in addition to Les and he was very helpful, thanks Les & Team you have really earnt your money.

This is the most unprofessional and disorganised agency I have ever dealt with. Avoid them! There are a lot better agents in the area who are not this ignorant . The manager Les is too arrogant to notice the problems. I wouldn't trust them to sell a property

What agent could do to change your mind?
At least call back once and say this is the time for the open house or the house is off the market, say something.

I was really interested in the house but this agent has put me right off. Definitely the most unprofessional agent i have ever dealt with. Disgusted. The last guy named Freddy said that i wasn't on the system and said that he will sort it out and give a time for the open day. Nada. Shouldn't be in business in my opinion.

I believe this is the first time by myself and Douglas Allen of Barkingside Office have used this type of sale.IE weekend open house, I would recommend this type of sale to anyone as it sold very quickly, plus the excellent service provided by both Mr L carter and Daniel Bourne both professionally and friendly does Douglas Allen credit, plus the staff who have been really good throughout thank you john Rackham

A buyer, a neighbour of mine, was found as soon as the board went up. As I'm moving to America I asked the buyer if the searches, etc. could be done as quickly as possible, which he agreed to do. However, he did nothing for a month and the agent became very worried by this, especially since the buyer was not returning any calls so emailed me in America, where I was on holiday, telling me the situation and informing me they had found another buyer who was prepared to do the necessary to expedite the sale and to offer an additional £5,000 and would I consider changing. Given the circumstances I agreed and am delighted I did becuase it was good advice. Contracts have been exchanged in record time thanks to the efforts of Les and Daniel so I'm very grateful to them.
