Do not move in to properties from Foxtons. I have been living in a mould infested flat for a year— which sent me to the hospital and an independent mould company confirmed the flat was unsafe to live in because it wasn’t properly damp proofed — and they did nothing. When I decided to move out because of the mould, they immediately started viewings of the flat and are now moving someone in when the landlord has no plans to carry out the 2 months of repairs necessary to make it not a health hazard. Beyond that, though, Foxtons has contacted me to schedule viewings of my flat several times when I explicitly told them not to, and when trying to find a flat with them, they offered ones that did not meet any of my criteria and were not on the market. Overall, I strongly recommend not using Foxtons.

Poor management from this agency. They had 3 apartments together. V. pleased with Foxtons. They valued the property keenly and achieved well over asking price. They marketed well, targeting specific buyers. Thanks also for helping with the final stages of the sale and purchase, dealing with the solicitors, other agents and other buyers and sellers in the chain. I wouldn't have even expected you to be involved with all that stuff, but thank god you were! It was really a relief to know there was one sane and sensible person involved when others seemed to be mega-stressed, inefficient or unrealiable. Thanks for helping to keep us happy and keeping the whole thing on track.
We were really impressed with your advice while the flat was on the market, and before when you did the valuation. You seemed to have really good answers to any questions we asked, however random, and we really appreciated that you took the time to engage with us on that level - I don't think many people would do that. We knew we were in excellent hands, but we still really liked being able to think about things for ourselves, so thanks for all the time you took on keeping us informed and for being so patient!
We were marvelling at how slick the whole experience of selling the flat with Foxtons was and are so glad that we were in the Camden patch- we can't imagine the others would have been anywhere near as friendly, intelligent and all-round brilliant as you!

I am a landlord of a property who unfortunately made the mistake of choosing Foxtons. I have had constant issues with them and with all honesty advise you to avoid using their services.
One example was when my tenant moved in and I instructed them to hire professional cleaners at £190 inc VAT. When I inspected the inventory I found comments that suggested the property required cleaning. It was only when I queried it with the property manager that I found out that the cleaners had in fact not been to the property and that the manager was completely unaware of the fact. I was able to request a refund for the job.
I have two other issues involving repairs and rent which I wont go into as they haven't been resolved yet. However the Foxtons staff honestly have no interest or concern for either myself or my tenant.
Please, please dont make the same mistake as I have. Ignore the marketing and sales tactics, it's all fake. If something goes wrong they will do the absolute minimum to assist you and in some cases as I have found, will not even follow through on actions that they say they will do in writing. Once you're signed up you feel trapped, ripped off and cheated. I assure you all they want in your money.

Absolutely outstanding from start to finish. These guys really know the market and work super super hard to achieve the absolute best possible price. I'm amazed and wouldn't hesitate to use them again but I wouldn't use anyone else. Their fees might be more than some other agents charging 1, 1.5 or 2% but they are WELL worth it and you will get the money back when you sell as they will get a higher price anyway.

Whilst looking for properties I dealt with a number of estate agents, including some of your colleagues at other Foxtons branches and I have to say Sam was by far the best. In the end I even stopped looking with other agencies as I really wanted to buy a property from Sam, he is real credit to the company.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that I was thoroughly impressed with Joel throughout the whole process of purchasing Flat C, Queens Crescent.
This was my first purchase, and obviously had a lot of questions and concerns, but Joel was always happy to do his best to answer them, as well as show the flat to me and my parents when I requested.
I also had some concerns working with Foxtons on this, given what i'd heard from people in the past, but I found Joel was trustworthy, and always upfront, and put Foxtons in a positive light.
I'm sure this has not been the first time he's received positive feedback and i'm sure its recognised but I wanted to pass it on to you.

I instructed Foxtons Camden to sell my property on a sole agency basis. Within the first six days they arranged 18 viewings, many of which happened late in the evenings when most other agents would have been closed. All of the sales negotiators were highly professional and arranged all viewings via text which was very convenient.
Within 10 days we had offers from two parties, one of which was agreed at the asking price.
Throughout the transaction process, the communication from Ed Robinson and Michael Hall was excellent and I was kept fully informed of all developments. Ed and Michael were highly proactive and went the extra mile to deliver a fantastic service which more than justified their agency fee.

The agents will promise anything to make a sale then fail to deliver. Make sure you get absolutely everything they offer written in the contract otherwise they will renege on promises.
We moved into a letted property which was sold to us on the grounds of it being fully redecorated and the garden completely tidied up (it was a tip) before we moved in. Moved in- nothing had been decorated, the garden was as it was before- and the new addition of a broken toilet leaking into the kitchen. The agent blamed the landlord, although clearly as the managing agent in charge of the contractors, it was Foxtons' responsibility.
Estate agents often attract a lot of criticism- which in some cases is unfair. In this case it is entirely justified. Don't believe me? Google Foxtons and look at the reviews (also check out the Watchdog investigation from a few years back).

Excellent service. You really do get what you pay for! From the moment I rented my flat out, then sold it, I had 24 hours service from an extremely polite and professional team. I had heard they are very commission driven, but at the end of the day they are doing their job... and it gets done. What more could you ask for?!...
It is an extremely stressful time looking for a flat either selling, renting, whatever and the customer service that Foxtons provide, make this process much more bearable.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Do their job in a professional manner. Too many complaints to suggest that they are doing an adequate job. They have a polished face but it is run on a daily basis by incompetent staff who treat clients with contempt and offer no advice, presumably due to lack of expertise and also because they have the commission upfront.

I didn't let them manage the property especially for 18% upfront charge. They charged 11.5% however for what is essentially a finders fee and then proceeded to 1. Fail to collect the rent, 2. Sit on tenants money when they did collect the rent and not pass it on (it go lost in the system....yeah right), 3. Charge me for check out costs because they couldn't reclaim it from the tenants and 4. Palm you off to anyone and everyone who bothers to pick up the phone.
You might receive slightly higher rents but they'll treat you like dirt. You'll end up being screwed by them somehow.
Avoid like the plague.
