Having had my home on and off the market for 6 or 7 years with various estate agents, we ended up with Jan Forster by chance. We had the property valued by them whilst looking to do a part ex with a builder. Chris was the gent who valued the property and originally came out. We decided against the part ex and Chris advised us through listing the property privately with them. We had zero hope have tried RMS, Bowes Mitchell, Mike Rogerson and Pattisons over the years on multiple occasions, we were beginning to think it would never happen. Don't get me wrong Jan Forster are not a magic estate agent who had a super secret to sell houses. What happened was that Chris was totally honest in terms of selling prospects and levelling our expectations on what to expect to attract in offer level to sell quick, within 8 weeks or within 3 months. The valuation was slightly lower than we hoped but our sensible side deep down knew that in the current market it was correct. Andrew managed viewings and offers, after a slow start viewing wise the property was under offer within 5 weeks at a price we were willing to sell for and the contact following this was perfectly acceptable and sufficient to keep us up to date. We have now moved from the property and into our new home. Unfortunately I do not have Chris's surname to add into the review but he and Andrew Dawson make what had previously been the impossible house to sell a relatively straightforward transaction. I realise other people sit with their homes on the market for long periods, we really did have it off and on for 10 years and almost resigned ourselves to putting it up for let in order to move. The house was nice and in a nice area but due to buying at the height of the property prices back in 2005 our valuation of the property was higher than current prices reflect. Other agents had valued the property 20k higher than what Jan Forster suggested and every time it had been a total waste of time and energy. My advice is to have a brutally honest conversation with Chris and decide from there if you are genuinely willing to sell or not and then put the idea out of your head if you are serious about moving in a 4-8 week period.

I cannot speak highly enough of the service and attention we received from Jan Forsters in the form of agent Andrew Dawson. From start to finish of the whole move process, Andrew was not only extremely friendly, knowledgeable and approachable, he was also thoroughly reliable - whether that involved meeting us for viewings or responding to phone calls and emails. During part of the buying/selling process we were in Australia and even then he kept us informed and up to date with any developments. He also acted as an excellent go-between for all negotiations between ourselves and the sellers. We would give him the highest accolade going!!
