AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Especially dealing with Luke Seymour who can only be described as an arrogant, incompetent, sarcastic and unprofessional agent. He is someone that doesn’t listen whatsoever, doesn’t reply to emails promptly, reluctantly wanting to help. This company only cares about getting its money and couldn’t give a crap about its clients. Jobs were logged in the property we rented but soon deleted, issues were raised but never sorted out as ‘they were our problem’, which they weren’t. The jobs that did get fixed took ages and again they were reluctant in doing so. There is a severe lack of customer service especially with Luke, I would strongly advise a customer service course for this inhuman person, who lacks empathy and understanding. Oakfield will make up charges for not giving back your deposit, including charges with products weren’t up to standard, creating issues that were never there in the first place or for very minor things like a finger mark on the glazing, I would recommend not breathing if you move into a place with Oakfield as the likelihood of being charged for this is extremely high. Summarising, I will never use this company again, even if I was desperate.

My review is from the viewpoint of a solicitor who deals with residential conveyancing, and has to deal with many different managing agents as part of my job. Dealing with Oakfield but more specifically, Rachel Harmer, in connection with both a leasehold property sale as well as on a separate property purchase, both in Bexhill, was made so much easier. Rachel is helpful, efficient and just lovely to deal with. We come across so many managing agents who either don't reply to enquiries, or charge for the privilege on every question and who often make things more cumbersome. Not the case here. Rachel is wonderful!

Initially, my review of this company was positive. However, the way in which they have handled us since July has been nothing short of abominable.
They failed to let us know the house was on the market (we found out by some random person at the door), then then ignored email, then constantly tried to arrange viewings, then failed to let us know they had sold the house (we found out by Section 21 through the door). They expect us to leave a week before Christmas.
I have complained many times, and have been fobbed off at each turn - they have done nothing wrong. Perhaps. But they have done nothing right either.
I've found myself several times having to mention the little known thing called customer service. They do not have any. Not once have they tried to work WITH us. Offer us another house? Nope. Offer us the chance to buy? Nope.
Sting us with additional fees? Sure they have. Not one gesture of goodwill, not one bit of help, not one iota of care. They have done NOTHING to assist us - because they have the sale of the house I guess.
In over twenty years of renting houses, I have never, ever seen a company behave like this. I truly hope this is the business their directors intended, because if not, they will be sadly disappointed.
My advice to anyone would be to use this company at your peril. I am going to the Property Ombudsman with the full details.

Comments on Agent Fees
Whilst possibly higher than some agents, having always worked on the principle that "if you pay peanuts, you get Monkeys" I always consider, does the service represent good value for money rather than be too influenced by a direct fee comparison.

Their various teams e.g. management - accounts - sales & lettings work closely together which is important in choosing a good overall Professional agent.
