Please do not deal with Haart lettings or Spicer Haart. They made errors on my rent collection on two separate occasions and under paid me. As a former accountant I am meticulous in going through the rent statement which is not very user friendly. Having spotted their incompetence, instead of offering me a financial goodwill, they have the audacity of saying that they were the ones who corrected the error! I have wasted many phone calls and time sorting this mess out. Through no fault of my own! The staff at the head office don't bother answering phone calls and are damn rude.

I have had the most horrendous two years with Haarts Colchester ( head office) and the Torquay office. so much so that they have lost me a tenant. Communication was poor to the extent that although I was paying for a fully managed service, I had to get involved with contractors and indeed with the tenant. I have not received one inspection report in the last two years - the tenant says they have never even been to the property. They gave a contractor my address who sent me a bill requesting money for a job - the funds were sat in Haarts bank account. I paid for over £700.00 for an airflow system for damp - I now realise I didn't need it but this was down to their bad communication. Going local now!!

I have the misfortune of being a tenant in a property managed by Spicer Haart. On check- in I found that the kitchen sink was not draining. 14 days to rectify and during that period several blatant lies including confirming a contractor had been to correct the issue. I live in a 24 hour concierged property and can leave keys for repair works that are signed in and out ....
The latest saga started 10 days ago with no heating. After reporting the issue and promised a return call nothing for 24 hours. I chased, and promised a response. Next day no response. Day 3 and an unrelated but distressing experience - the exterior door handle to my bedroom was loose and in the morning when I got up it fell off when I tried to open the door, locking me in. They did arrange for the onsite handyman to break in my removing the exterior door lock and removing the letterbox to do so. however the farce was that despite assurances that both doors would be repaired immediately it has taken 6 days.
I have made circa 20 calls and similar levels of emails in the intervening period. Apart from the failure to call back general lies. Specifics are: BIG LIE 1. As your property is unsecure (owing to a gaping hole where letterbox was so you can just reach in an open the door) this is an emergency and we ( property management) do not need landlord permission to get it fixed. I will call you with contractor details ASAP and it will be done today. After no call I chased and was told that they were waiting for landlord (who lives abroad) permission. BIG LIE 2. After many emails and calls on trying to get doors and heating fixed I was ( in writing - ie email) last night (5 days later for door issue, 7 for heating) that a contractor was instructed and "I have spoken with the contractor ..... He will be there tomorrow, please leave keys with concierge" . After repeatedly chasing during today for confirmation that work was completed I was finally told at 5:30pm that "the contractor did NOT recieve the instructions. Well dear reader imagine my reaction at this point....... After expressing my displeasure ( in eloquent terms of course......) when the response was "well we have done everything required......" I did point out that a reasonable person would assume "I have spoken to and confirmed" meant that. As it transpires what actually that means is "I sent an email to someone, to which there was no response because it was an incorrect email address and I didn't get a reply but that's practically the same thing"
To end the sorry tale. I am now in a hotel nearby, and highly suggest that no one has this misfortune of dealing with the ineptititude

Similar issues renting from SpicerHaart, Wimbledon. The worst real estate agents I've ever met... As you can see in the picture, the sink was clogged, we wait around 1 month to fix it. After one...

I have been with Spicer Haart Lettings for 4 years; I wish I left the second they consolidated in Colchester. There is absolutely no personal management of the property, the have no record of inventories between check outs, I have to chase late rental payments, they ever email me to say that the rent is going to be late, they haven't visited the property in 3 years... The list goes on.
I'm an officer in the army and I've been away lots, this company is simply terrible. The second the report from the property ombudsman comes through (its taken six moths to process because they have so many demands) I'm leaving Spicer Haart - avoid at all costs.
