First time buyers, so yes we probably weren't prepared for the "Estate Agent" market, however, I personally will avoid marketing/buying or selling a house through Cubit & West. We have been looking for a place to buy near on a year and have been involved with a number of agents. We've meet some wonderful agents and on the whole they have been honest and really good agents in showing the houses and pointing out the faults and positives. However, there has been a common theme across the Cubitt & West agents across multiple branches. They have been short, used false advertising and in some instances we could almost use the word "bullying tactics". Every time we have walked away from Cubitt & West agents after seeing a house feeling annoyed. Sadly, we feel in love with a house that was through Cubitt & West and thought we'd just have to go through them. They effectively insisted on us jumping through their hoops and using their lawyers/mortgage advisers etc - to a point where it actually ended up in a full on argument because we were not willing to use their lawyers. We have been lied to continuously during the process as they have said anything that comes to mind to get what they need. The whole process through Cubitt & West has left us a very stale feeling about Estate Agents. Of course, I do not for a minute think all Estate Agents are like this, but certainly it seems there is a theme in Cubitt & Wests training - it is about purely their cut...at whatever moral cost.
