They have overpriced my property by 100k
Now you have to be a complete moron to believe in it ( naively I did)
Compete incompetency and joke.
Wasted 5 moths of our time and prime time of the year

Update Jun 2019:
After year or so of raising the complaint managing director Duncan Gibb reply stands that he sees nothing wrong with this practice and endorse it 100%.
According to Dexters this is normal practice of all estate agents to overprice the property to get the sole listing then to reduce it by managing client's expectations. I do not know in what world they live in and what ethic education and upbringing they had but it is not honest and good business practice.
I have contacted Obdusman as per suggestions that being almost single course of complaint procedure with estate agents.
They have made it extremely difficult for clients to file any complaint with agent so I am not sure what is the purpose of organization and who are there to regulate and protect.
Going forward I am never to trust the estate agents again, treat them with no respect as for what they are thieves and dishonest people.
Fair enough there are some agents who maybe honest but yet to be found, so no offence to those.
In summary agents at Dexters in St Margarets are lying thieves governed by lord of lies Duncan Gibbs

Jokers continue on, managing director Duncan Gibbs sees nothing wrong and blames me for it.
Appalling , I have uploaded letter for all to read
"Although I am sorry to hear you regret instructing Dexters back in 2016, I believe we
were always open and transparent with you. James Carey, Sales Manager carried out
the Market Appraisal in May 2016. The recommendation he gave on the asking price
was given in good faith and reflected available information about the property and took
into account the market conditions at the time.
I can see that James followed up the meeting with a letter confirming what you
discussed and he suggested an asking price of £749,950. James' advice was
consistent with a comparable property that was sold in the area and I attach a copy of
this for your information. I therefore cannot agree that James deliberately over-inflated
the price to gain the instruction.
It was ultimately your decision to instruct Dexters and agree to marketing at that price.
We advised you at the time that if interest was not forthcoming we would review the
sales strategy and price once we had received some feedback. Further to almost three
weeks' of marketing we discussed reducing the asking price in line with the feedback
we had received, which I understand agreed to do.
The price reduction generated more interest and a further nine viewings, however you
then made the decision to withdraw your property. Despite being in a 12 week Sole
Selling Agency agreement, we accepted your notice and agreed to withdraw your Once again I am sorry that you felt unhappy with our service, but having now reviewed
the matter I believe we were professional and acted in your best in your best interests
at all times. The purpose of a market appraisal is to provide an indication of the price
the property might sell for and what a Seller can hope to achieve, but it does not
confirm or guarantee the same.
Please note this is now our Company's final viewpoint on the matter. Therefore if you
remain unhappy and wish to take the matter further, the next step is for you to raise a
complaint with The Property Ombudsman for independent arbitration. You have 12
months from the date of this letter in which to do so and details of their complaints
procedure can be found on their website, www.tpos.co.uk.

He was always punctual and confirmed every appointment exactly as requested—via email. He answered countless questions and made the effort to find any information he didn’t have readily available if it was of interest to us. Furthermore, when we needed time to consider our options, he never pressured us and gave us the space we needed. An excellent experience overall!

I brought this apartment through Dexters and was extremely impressed with how professional they were, they were proactive and I always heard from them with updates and a steer of what I needed to do. When there was a problem, they worked with me to sort it out. I then ended up renting my apartment out through Dexters, based on my experience with the sales team there was no question on which agent I would use and Dexters rentals did not disappoint. They got me a fantastic tenant, paying a good rent and the whole thing was seamless. Really great, hard working bunch.

it is a very long and complicated complaint which I am quite happy to share with anyone interested but it's safe to say that I think Dexters have not done their job properly with completing checks on their clients resulting in their client not completing on completion day after exchanging 3 weeks prior. This has caused my family of 2 adults and 3 children under the age of 7 a huge amount of emotional stress. We have been in limbo now for over a week living out of a suitcase with all our property in storage and the crisis has still not been resolved. I would advise anyone to stay clear of dexters when dealing with buying and or selling houses. It's truly not worth the stress they might put you through. So far they have ruined my families Christmas.

Had to deal with an Inexperienced, unprofessional individual with a poor level of communication and engagement. This individual needs training to ensure that that understand their legal boundaries rather than trying to be everything that is wrong with the Estate Agents profile when dealing with the public. Providing instructions to solicitors without client knowledge is not legal. Level of unprofessionalism in dealing with contract negotiation is a reason not to deal with your company. Trying to be the next Foxtons is where it all goes wrong every day. Trying to prevent and undermine a house buyers report is unprofessional and something trading standards should look into.Over priced valuations to boost their fees, price paid was �100k less than Dexters valuation and real value was confirmed by survey & house buyers report.

Furthermore, you can expect your house to be disparaged whilst you are happily selling it with another agent as we discovered via a buyer who happened to mention their interest in our house to Dexters (who were selling their house). A veneer of shiny, salesy professionalism, but underneath their tactics are quite sickening. I confronted them on their dishonest conduct, but it was if they had no moral compass.

Having submitted an offer on one of the property on sale not to long ago that was on via the Twickenham branch - I must admit that I am NOT impressed ! The sales agent we submitted the offer to was, though not rude, maintained an overall condescending, unwelcoming and cocky tone. So much so, that the first thing I did after hanging up was to check if the property is on sale via another Property Agent. If you can't be bothered then , I will take my business elsewhere to someone who appreciates it.
Head of customer service, please would you mind remind some of your sales team of basic facts - Not all buyers are stupid There is no dearth of properties & estate agents for most buyers to go to The commission will only be generated on 'purchase' of the property, so the buyer is essentially your key to core business/profit model -show some respect to the reason you are in business. Folks who are shelling out over between £600 - £800K for a property are not stupid and probably get super annoyed with minimal experience, fresh out of college estate agents trying to make an impression by acting 'too smart' - we ALL see through your BS, but are just polite enough to point it out !
Some pointers for sellers & buyers when appointing this agency Sole Sellers and no offers in a few weeks - it might be Dexter's attitude that is putting buyers off, consider appointing an additional agent. Buyers - more generic advice - don't rush into buying if you are in a strong position, with govt introducing more stringent rules for mortgage approval in October & imminent interest rate rise (the likely increase over the term of mortgage won't be substantial ), the tables will likely reverse in favour of buyers in the not so far future. I am a part of the industry & can already see the trend. Very soon, the agents will need you more than you need them, so ensure you go with an agency where the whole buying process is special !
How has this impacted us? We are monitoring the behaviour and if it continues, we will withdraw our offer - it's only a house and with patience, something else will come through in time.
It's surprising because with Dexters - there office staff is overall appalling but folks who show you the property are most wonderful & a total delight ! what a real shame some of them don't work in the branch,.

I read the poor reviews yet went ahead with the agreement. HUGE MISTAKE!! I wish I had listened to everyones views! From the start our flat had problems. As soon as they have your money, don't expect to hear from them again! Our flat wasn't even legally safe, but they didn't care! I chased and chased.
I am trying to build up enough evidence so we can legally get out of our contract and rent through any other agent.
I know I will never see my deposit again.
