As a prospective customer in the sale of my house I invited Foxtons around for a valuation on my property. Matthew Thompson, the sales manager who visited my home was professional and answered all questions to my satisfaction (I only wish my story ended there). Upon further contact by Mr. Thompson via email I thanked him for his time and let him know I would be proceeding with another company. He responded with somewhat of a negative email but I left it at that. The next day I was contacted by the agent whom I had initially spoken with on the phone who informed me that she likes to keep calling and checking on the process to see how it is getting along elsewhere. At this time I politely asked her to remove my information from their database (as is my right by law) as moving forward with the sale of my house I would not have the time to continually be contacted by, and providing updates to, Foxtons. The agent remained polite and professional and assured me that my information would be removed and I not be contacted again. The very next day (which by now Foxtons have violated not only my right but also my request) this is the email I received from Matthew Thompson...you can be the judge of whether this is a company you would want to work with. I am only so glad that I did not select Foxtons as if this gives any insight into the type of service I would have received and the way I would have been treated then I know I was 100% correct in my decision. I mean I think this type of attention would be better served on the customers who have hired your services than wasting time on those who have not. That alone says a lot to me. The email I received reads as follows: I do not appreciate you calling up my colleague and being quite frankly rude and obnoxious. You spent over 30mins on the phone initially with my colleague and then over an hour with me. The least you could have done is thank us for our FREE advice. You will absolutely not sell the property for 985 with <company name I shall omit>. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even do a single viewing. Let's see how long it is before they call you and tell you to drop the price. You have been hoodwinked by a poor agent. Kind Regards Matthew Thompson Sales Manager Brixton Sales, Foxtons _____________ You be the judge! And consequently there were also two other firms I informed I would not be working with and their polite response was the equivalent of night and day to the reaction of this gentleman's at Foxtons.

Jun 20, 2014His response is not only rude but hypocritical. Being a tenant and a competitor of Foxtons i can assure you when it comes to over valuing a property to get it on their books then dropping the price Foxtons are the worst!

I had a very poor rental experience with Foxton's Brixton.
I was desperate for short term accommodation so signed a 5 month tenancy and was not allowed to see the flat, only a video tour, before signing. Again as I was desperate and the agent seemed really helpful I agreed.
Utilities were included yet I found out - when the electricity cut out - that it was on a key meter that needed to be topped up. Although I was offered a refund. Which took weeks to process, this was NOT what was promised.
The landings stank of urine, and rubbish bags were routinely piled up by the chutes. Homeless men often slept in the landings. As much as I empathise with their need for a safe place to sleep, this was unacceptable given what Foxton's charged me. They had the audacity to tell me to call the council, and then say the landings had nothing to do with them as they were outside the flat,
The bed collapsed within a week of me moving in, the terrace was filthy and the fob panel outside the building was hanging off wires at one point. I also did not receive a mailbox key until 4 months into my stay
To add insult to injury they are trying to deduct money from my deposit for damage to the terrace, which I did not step out into as it was so dirty,
I have complained to the division manager, Stephanie Martin.

As my family have bought/sold properties with Foxtons around the Uk, I assumed using them for rental would be ideal. The representative in Brixton was so unprofessional, he didn't even put our offers through because they were too low for his liking... I had expressed that we had seen other properties within the price bracket I was offering in which he responded quite sarcastically with " That's surprising, you should definitely put an offer on those properties." I ironically found out that alternative property was with Foxtons! Really disappointed with this experience and will not use Foxtons Brixton again.

My understanding is that they take nearly a third of the rent, and do nothing in return. I would describe Foxtons as thieves in suits. If you are considering renting in Brixton, go find a local agent (small) who knows their local area, and who relies on their long-term reputation. Do not go anywhere near this awful, awful company.

I read a review posted on 19th October from a tenant who had problems with Foxtons. There is something pathological and corrupt about this awful company. Anyone offering to rent their property through Foxtons should beware. Anyone wanting to rent through Foxtons should walk away. Don't deal with this criminal, corrupt, shell of a company. They do not care about either end of the customer process. They only care about commission and targets. They will make every excuse under the sun. They deserve to close down. Do not keep them going by supporting them.

We paid nearly £25,000 for a service which was not worth a fraction of this. They don't deserve this. They didn't get the valuation they promised. They were incompetent. I will not use an agent when i sell my next property I will do through a web based agent and save my self tens of thousands of pounds.

The whole process was utterly miserable. They do nothing to warrant the fee they charge. They say one thing one day and another thing the next. They don't listen to you. They don't take on board your instructions. (for example we asked for no for sale sign to go up but one went up the following day.
We asked for no sold sign to go up but one went up the following day.)
On top of that it feels entirely like they were working for the buyers despite the fact that it was us paying them thousands of pounds for their incompetence.
I would never recommend them. I will never use them again and I am moving my rental business away from them.

After an enthusiastic start, the service I received dwindled to unacceptable levels. It was virtually impossible to get through to Matthew Thompson by phone, at times up to 4 days of leaving messages and sending emails, and once I did make contact he was insistent that they did not mislead me, despite a few emails sent from me that should have at the very least made him doubt his position on this subject. He point blank refused to take any responsibilty for the 'confusion' (I wasn't confised at all - they were wrong). He subsequently became rude, aggressive and unprofessional, both verbally and by email. Thinking better of his response, he then tried to rebuild the relationship and yet again, spectacularly failed to deliver what he repeatedly promised. Foxtons charges at least twice the industry standard yet delivers only a fraction of the promised service, and what service then ensued was extremely arrogant to boot. I will however praise Rihanna Farid for her diligence, focus, professionalism and delightful helpful manner. Let's hope someone else offers her a job soon.
