This lack of attention to detail extended to their poor efforts in generating interest during the initial stages, largely due to the open house strategy that did not yield the expected results.
What added to our frustration was their unprofessional behavior and negative attitude. Not only did Connells Estate Agents fail to deliver to their “commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service”, but they also engaged in bad-mouthing other estate agents in the area. This kind of behavior is not only unbecoming of a professional agency, but it also raises concerns about their integrity and values.
Moreover, when we raised our initial complaints about their services, Connells Estate Agents dismissed our concerns rather than addressing them, displaying a disappointing lack of accountability and understanding.
To make matters worse, the behavior of the estate agents was both rude and aggressive, as reported by our buyers. It's disheartening to know that the house's success in selling had more to do with its own merits as described to us by third parties in the chain rather than the efforts of the estate agents. As customers, we were left with no choice but to seek assistance from other estate agents within our chain and our solicitors to navigate through the process.
Moreover, Connells completely disengaged after the sale, refusing to participate in the sales progression. The next time we heard from them was the day we were moving out when they asked for the keys and, shockingly two days after the completion date when they requested more money. This indifference and lack of involvement were noted not only by us but also by various parties in the chain, including other clients and agents representing them. Connells claimed they don't get involved in sales progression, which contradicted the proactive approach taken by all other estate agents involved, leaving our solicitors in disbelief at their response. We ended up receiving better advice, information and guidance from another Estate Agents involved with the chain.
If we had the time and energy after such a lengthy process, we would have seriously considered disputing their charges. In our opinion and in the opinion of some of the other parties involved in the transaction, Connells Estate Agents' service was severely lacking. However, it's a relief not to have to deal with them again. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that others avoid working with Connells Estate Agents. Their level of professionalism and care was clearly insufficient, and we hope that our feedback prompts them to make significant improvements to their services.

I bought my house with Connells in December 2001 and sold it with Connells in January 2019. Both experiences were fantastic. Having never sold a property before the only comparisons I can draw on Connells in Amesbury are through other people's experiences of different agents. Connells have seemed to come out on top from each of these conversations and that is certainly how I felt our experience was.
Earlier this year we decided to look at new build properties to purchase and through one of their schemes we ended up having 3 agents visit us to value our property. We immediately bonded with Amy and she gave such a different impression to the other agents who didn't seem to be bothered (as they had assumed they were just doing a valuation, no bigger picture thinking!) In the end we decided to sell our house directly through Amy and our decision certainly paid off.
Amy is attentive and knowledgable and has clearly built a strong and happy team within the office. She was very excited about our property and instilled a real confidence. She wasn't wrong, despite our open weekend being in the first hot bank holiday of the year, we had a good series of offers which we were all very excited about.
We were really happy with the way our viewings were organised, especially as my partner works nights and this was always remembered. As we had renovated our house some of the viewings took longer than normal, some of which were in the evening - none of the team had any qualms about staying late and would even catch up with me afterwards.
Price negotiation between prospective buyers also went well. Amy listened to us, gave advice and clearly presented all the options. Unfortunately our first buyer's mortgage offer didn't go the way they needed it to. Having never sold a property before this was quite daunting for us, especially as houses in the area tended not to go on the market so there was not a lot of available comparison. Amy was not phased, she had a clear goal for us and this vision certainly paid off as we had offers in not long after this. On some occasions during this negotiation process Amy was out doing viewings but we didn't feel this impacted on us too much and we certainly always heard back the same day. We felt that Amy was always available to us and there were some occasions that she stayed late to sort things out.
Once our sale had been agreed we dealt with Ella who is equally as professional, attentive and bubbly. She is also incredibly proactive! Ella is so fantastic at building relationships and is such a credit to the team. We were the last part of the chain but Ella had no concerns about pushing everyone else along (which was really needed). There were a couple of bumps along the way, mainly with our purchase, but also with the bottom of the chain. Ella handled this all professionally, there was also no end to her listening talents - I spent many a day chewing her ear off and it usually ended up with Ella obtaining an answer. Even if there was no update Ella would ensure we were aware of why this was.
There were a couple of occasions when our purchase hung on the edge, I have no doubt that Ella's professionalism ensured that we were eventually able to move in to our new home.
The entire office always made me feel very welcome (I called a lot!) and when I visited there were always huge smiles and a warm welcome.
It was a real pleasure dealing with Amy and her wonderful team. We felt like valued and supported clients who had chosen a local company but with all the benefits and support of a national chain.
Our neighbour was attempting to sell her property during the same time as us so that they could move to be with family. Usually houses in that road get snapped up as it is within a picturesque area. Unfortunately hers is still on the market with only two viewings. She has been with two different agents. I think this comparison is fantastic proof of Connells in Amesbury and their wonderful successes.

We eventually found the right property, and I have to say, the process of negotiating and agreeing the sale/price was quite traumatic. Only one person deals with this, which was frustrating, as it was very hard to get hold of that one person! At one point, I felt that the manager, who deals with this part of the sale, was playing us off against other potential purchasers. We had verbally agreed the sale and others were still being shown the property. This almost caused us to be gazumped! Extremely stressful and not professional or honest practice in my opinion. Luckily for us, the seller agreed to confirm our purchase, as we had a buyer for our property already.
Once the sale was officially agreed, we dealt with Ella Flint for the remainder of the purchase. She was efficient and helpful throughout. There were many issues which cropped up along the process, as they do with most house purchases, but Ella dealt with them calmly, and thoroughly each time. I felt that she communicated well and professionally between all parties and can not thank her enough for being so pro active. Ella is most definitely a great asset to her team.

I think the fees are around the industry standard, but I am completely happy that everything I was told I would get for the fee has been 100% delivered, and a bit more as well in terms of the speed of the sale.

David and his team have been excellent. I was delighted with the valuation, but David assured me it was bang on the money for the area and what my house has to offer. And he was spot on because within 10 days of putting it on the market, and 6 viewings later, I accepted an offer not far off the asking price, which was considerably more than I'd imagined I'd get before I asked Connells to market my house. I genuinely felt that all the viewers had been carefully vetted so that there were no time wasters, and that their needs had been very closely matched with my house. And the support from the office team, especially Amy, has also been great - they are very customer focussed, friendly, reassuring and professional. Amy supplied me viewer feedback within a couple of hours on each occasion. I actually can't fault how this sale has been managed - I am one very happy customer!
